How accurate is your 5001, 5002 or 5004?

I have been monitoring my BP for the past 4 weeks (factoring the break-in period for the movement) after reading a lot about the inaccuracy of the 51011 and 51111 movements in the past. Sad to say, the critisism on the BP's accuracy is spot on after observing an approx. +7s/day on my piece. Not that I am anal about accuracy but I would expect much more from IWC since my 3717 is keeping time within +1s to +2s per day. Furthermore, the price we pay for 5001 or 5004 warrants a movement that is comparable to the accuracy of ETA based movements.

Perhaps I have to start placing the BP in different positions when I am not wearing it to negate the time gained. So here comes the question...how accurate are your in-house IWC pieces?

When measuring the 5000 series, one has to take in the Power Reserve factor. My observation for my 5004 at high power reserve (5 days onwards) my 5004 varies between 1~5s / day. Mostly 1-2s. Whereas on the lower end (less than 2days PR) it varies between 5~8s / day. I am please with these results (even compared to my Sub with daily 2s deviation) though I am those who are "concerned" about accuracy.

You must be one of the lucky ones with better accuracy. I am getting around +7s/day despite the PR showing 5-7 days (dial up most of the time - computer work ).

I was reading complaints in another forum where owners of 5001 and 5004 are generally getting around +10s/day to +15s/day. This is definately not acceptable IMO.

I suppose the best workaround is to identify the gain/loss for each of the 5 positions and place the watch accordingly when not wearing to fix the gain/loss when wearing the watch. Not an ideal solution but nevertheless, it works.

Now that you mention a lot of computer work. Have you check for magnetism? My notebook speaker is very near my wrist and my past ignorance has caused my watches to be magnetized.

Hmm...the 5004 comes with soft-iron core. Is the computer speaker magnet strong enough to affect the BP? Anyone?

FYI, the soft-iron in BP protects the watch from magnetic flux density up to 32k A/m compared to 80k A/m for Milgauss and Ingeniuer.
