thanks guy for great input .....
eying for my first pan, just too many choice and huge prices range in between (means a lot of study), anymore input ?

prices range should be < 20k, for daily use and prefer something hardcore or tahan lazat type cause i'm hardcore outdoor person .... :)
20k watch that tahan lasak and for hardcore outdoor person?  Bro, get a g-shock for your hardcore activities... and a pam for casual wear if you desire....

hahahahha that is my last few year min requirement (compass is a must), ain't that hardcore anymore but still very in person (not easy to change) ...

tinks 112 is not popular or hot among PAM collectors or appealing to new buyers..

putting up my 112 for sale weeks back.. seems that the response is no good at all.. even droppping to a very very reasonable price..

well.. preferably i'll go for 000 or 005 anytime.. if there is available stock..
dat time 112 was on the table and the considered the price was pretty good and thought that it will be difficult to come across a 000 or 005 locally or mayb SG.. thats why gone for the 112..

no complaints realli.. but .. polished steel is not really my fav.. bcos it catches scratches like magnet..
and it made me a lil imba.. bcos the 005 bcame available after i bought the 112.. timing problem..

anyways.. i've grabbed a black PVD 111 homage.. to fill the void for selling off the PAM112..
looks great. feels OK. just works so so .. nevertheless a nice hobby watch ;D ;D

I think i will be crossing this 112 vs 000 bridge ..am enjoying all the different views here.

BTW, anyone here knows if there's difference in the intensity and longevity of the lume between the sandwich and painted markers?

In terms of lume, I see no difference between a painted dial or a sandwich dial, I guess they are same luminescent, be it painted or sandwich dial, the only difference between the 2 are the design of the dials.

May be I will share a lil bit of my PAM experience here.
I started with a Luminor Marina, PAM111G, Crown guard is a must,It comes with a painted dial and small second, back then I prefer to know my watch is ticking.

I don't really bother about the see tru caseback, because the movement got nothing to shout about, it's a Unitas movement afterall.

After that I moved on to the 3 days 1950 model, PAM312, very simple reason, the 1950 case and I love the brand, I want to own their in house movement.

Owning the PAM312 doesn't seems enough, I want something more, I want a dome crystal, so I flipped and bought a PAM233, I was thinking it's a perfect PAM back then, a thinner 1950 case with a very very nice dome crystal,P2000 handwind with 8 days power reserve, GMT function, nothing can beat it anymore.

But guess what,I wear my PAM111 more than the PAM233:) It's simpler, less winding and I don't have to adjust the date:)
therefore, I move back to base model, PAM390, very simple reason, cleaner dial, less is more ;)

a comparison with a PAM112

and the PAM372, again a very simple reason, cleaner dial.(and of course it's a historically correct modern vintage piece, plexiglas, etc, etc)

We will always find a reason to get something we like, that's the reason why I like the brand so much,It's the passion to keep you looking for a perfect one. You will always find some differences in small little details, the fonts, the color, the hands, etc etc.
Like most of the sifus said,
luminor or radiomir, luminor marina or luminor base, manual or auto, sandwich or painted dial, pre-v case or 1950 case, the material, left hand or right hand, budget, etc. by slowly filling in the blanks, you will defintely find one which sing well on your wrist.
till then only you worry about the strap fever ;D
just my 2 cents and hope this will help.Happy hunting.
cheers,
ck

The painted dials have a brighter and longer lume, but that's what I have read and don't have a painted dial PAM to verify. Only have a sandwich dial PAM, still trying to get funds to get a painted dial PAM Radiomir.
yeah, i read em somewhere too...that painted is brighter and last longer...
anyway, since the seasoned Ristians like ck (who will definitely have chance to compare both side by side) feels there's no difference, I think both have the same lume characteristics...

great story CK, nice one. love it when a risti tells his story, u can actually feel the joy and pain throughout the experience. NICE ONE

btw, the difference between 111 (after H) and 111 (G and before) are:
(1) painted dial
(2) decorated movement (with panerai panerai panerai engraved)

there were a few models which had some differences from G series onwards.
but for the sake of this conversation i will leave it here.

PAM00005, PAM00112 and PAM00249..... What else is there? Perhaps PAM00372? I have seen the watch and handled it (PAM00372) and have to say it is not for me.

If you want a watch that is closer to the Pre-V era, go for the PAM00000. If you want to go for a watch that is closer to the Vintage P, go for the PAM00112 or PAM00210. So the 'perfect' collection would be the PAM00000, PAM00112 and PAM00210. All base models.

After a while, too much PAM also you will feel tired. Best amount of pieces to have for PAM is 2. Jacky is right. One Luminor and One Radiomir would be the optimum. It is highly addictive to collect them though. However after a while, you will realise if you have too many that they are actually very similiar at first glance. Not many would glance at the intricacy of the watch all the time.

That'll be my entry combo. Except I'll replace the 112 with one of the 41x

For my own selfish reason that I love FATs (Faux Aged Patina). It's not politically correct(like french fries) but I couldn't help it.  ;D

So my choice will be 000, 210 and the 41x

PAM00000, base, black painted dial, black hands, white fonts

PAM00111, black sandwich dial, black and white hands, white fonts
