I would never wanna cross swords with Hobbit though...
It will be like digging my own grave, but I would like to be as knowledgeable as him...
I dont see that he is crossing sword with me, he is just giving his own opinion on this matter

The Hobbit,
The problem is usually most the "hi end" or rich snob ppl think seiko is crap for them

Gigi,
Never a problem for me as I don't really care what they think. I have some of these very people as 'friends' and they always ask why I collect, sorry have Seiko watches. They continue to show of their watches whose name they can't even pronounce. How these master watch makers make their own movements and how they are so creative, etc, etc, etc.
Well I just smile and agree. Little do they know these so called great artisans of watch making all start with the simple ETA movement when they started their trade and or training. They look down on the simple ETA movement or the basic 7s26 or even the Miyota 8125. I have an analogy for these people, they seems to think that there are students because there are teachers. The truth? There are teachers because there are students.
To be honest, its sad to say some people grade their own collection based on the money they paid. The more expensive the collction (lets say the artasan brand like MBF or titanic watch) the more valuable their collection. Remember the "dirt grade" and "no eye see grade" on another topic, some of ppl applied this principle.
I have a friend of mine who dad is a watch collector and he is wearing a omega seamaster bond (the one with 1120), He keep telling me about his dad collection very good & very easy to sell it off (I hate ppl who thing watch is for selling). When i show my fortis to him, his face was like "what the hell is this". He told me go get other brand watch as this watch (my fortis) has no value, I was like wtf

. I asked him if his dad had Lolex in his collection, I told him that lolex movement & watch are one of the simplest & easy to repair (robust). His answer is "Oh my family all dont like rolex, because it is overhype and its overpriced"... When he said this, I was again like Wtfed and like you said i just nod and agree with what he say because I too lazy to argue with him because he is the type of person who see the label on the dial of the watch and not other factor.
The Hobbit, I guess in the end of the day we should more concern about our satification of our own watch collection then other people watch because in the end of the day WE are the one who is wearing it and not the other people. For me i wear watch to "shiok sendiri" and satisfy myself lol

If other dont like or look down at our collection then like you said its their lost and their own problem.
