Hi guys,

Need your kind advise, my submariner not running well, it will stop after moving for a minute or so and will move again if I shake it. Does it needs servicing or oiling or it's something more serious.

Another unusual thing is that when I adjust the date by turning the knob, the gear does seemed like there is a lag and when turning the knob to adjust the time, the hour arm does not follow as per rotation, again there is a lag.

Appreciate good advise here.

Nope. They will take your watch and evaluate what needs to be done and give you an estimate and how long it will take. My last service at RSC (Taiwan) was just over RM1,000. Also if you don't want to change any parts, you have to tell them upfront and not after. Standard parts RSC will change is the crown, stem tube and gaskets. This is to ensure the watch can still meet the water resistant rating. IF you have one of the old or vintage Rolex submariner with the old Stem tube (no gasket on the stem tube), you can opt not to have the tube changed. However, RSC will not guarantee your watch for water resistance.

My Datejust had this same problem too before I sent it in to RSC. They told me that it needed an overhaul. So, yeah, head over to Menara Dion for a check-up.

Form what I understand, the rolex winding rotor's stem is the weakest part of the caliber 33xx. It is a non-ball bearing winder unlike other swiss mechanical watches. This, coupled with a tight tolerance for the rotor will result in greater wear and tear but produces better winding. My datejust is periodically sent to RSC every 5 years because of this.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advise, because am trying to prevent sending back to Rolex centre, as you know if go in sure minimum rm1000 above today given high cost of everything.

My Rolex submariner half gold is year 1995 ( if it helps). Last service was about 5 to 6 years ago and 5 years prior to that changed some gear in the knob area.

I seldom where the watch about once in 2 weeks and before it kaput about 3 weeks as was on holiday. Is this one of the cause of failure ?

More inputs welcomed.

time to service... as for rolex... most watchmaker know how to service it....

Last time sent to rsc m'sia also they overcharged, lucky negotiate with them

As I m stationed in Jakarta another hassle is to bring it back .....

A bit over RM1,000.

Lucky this morning I turned the knob for about 5 to 10 min in a bit try to distribute the lubricants in the gear and so far watch working as normal.

So now I know why people store watch in proper box when not used.

Guys,

Good day

My watch finally die on me yesterday. Guess its really time to send into the workshop

Need advise, do I send to RSC in KL or Singapore ? Which is cheaper.

I read some forum and they mentioned JW Horologist in Spore is quite good but am not so comfortable since its a non rolex centre.

I will send back to RSC then any other service center... a bit more expensive but in return you get one full year warranty and you can rest assure all parts are genuine

Do you mean [link to commercial site removed - mod]? I sent my vintage seamaster to them once. Serviced and ran for 2 years before power reserve problem started. Don't know if it is a vintage watch issue, i abused the watch or the service is not done properly. They have a lead time of 2 months and give 1 year warranty for the watches they serviced. The owner is knowledgeable. Service charges about half of what is paid to service center. According to him, some of the ADs send their watches to him for service.

I just called up RSC in Menara Dion (Ms May). The service now starts at minimum RM1850

Takes 2 weeks time.

I am checking this afternoon how much they will charge for service.

Yes, that is what they said too, bring in the watch, problem is now am in Jakarta.

RM1850 is the minimum charge for service + normal parts replacement, it can be higher if watch has other problems.

Serious? RM1850 is the minimum charge

I would expect Rolex service & parts should be lower because of volume circulating in market compared to other brands.

Rolex actually increased their prices since last year. So instead of the 1yr warranty now they give 2 yrs.

Before the price increase it used to be below 1k for basic service.

I'm sure there is a RSC in Jakarta, why not bring it in there?

Dont think there is a RSC in Jakarta and even if have, dont have confidence to send it in

Just called up Jx Horologxxx, service cost is SGD250+SGD100 (parts for mine since it stopped working)= SGD350

But takes 4 months !!

They have 2 technicians and over 100 + watches to do

Why no confidence? They are appointed and trained by Rolex, to me no difference.

Will you not eat McD or KFC if its outside USA? Think bout it.

And yes there is a RSC in Indo.

Unless you have heard or know horror stories about the RSC in Jkt, if not i dont see why not send it there since its near to you.
If you dont want to pay that much then no choice la.
