was surfing around and trying to understand all the variations of speedies and stumbled upon this particular model.

this model is a reissue of the first generation speedy from 57-59. although it shares the same 1861 cal. as most speedies, somehow the re-sale prices are way lower comparatively. is there really no love for this model?

looks real cool and seriously thinking maybe this would be my first omega if i decides to get one from the brand. a bargain to be had?

I think there's a cream white dial with leather strap variation as well.

Yeah, I would love an answer for that as well.
Selling pre-owned is lower. Did not dare to pull the trigger coz no research at all...

All I know is I saw one brand new in my Local ADs place retail at 17k.
It's called the moonwatch replica in some circles

Maybe some sifus here (Mr.Hobbit? Manburg? CK?) can clear up some misconceptions about this piece and the why and how and whatnots?

Not a sifu but I would like to share.

For some reason, Omega called this model as Broad Arrow 1957 'Replica' instead of reissue

They came on a bracelet (3594.50.00) and on a strap (3894.xx.xx). For the cream Broad Arrow, it is the later prodcution which fitted caliber 3313 movement.

Why that is less demand on this model?
I don't know, maybe it is due to the over popularity of the moonwatch (3570) than this 'replica'.
The other issue the silver hands, it will would completely disappear in bright light and making it hard to tell the time.

the 1957 is a pre-moonwatch model.

or u can say the daddy of the moonwatch

but i do believe it offers a great value for money being the same cal. special edition box and relative "scarcity" (just that you'll less likely to see one on another person's wrist).

I almost get this one but at the end the deal called-off...

also, i dont' like it being call "replica" even it's not..it's just an reissue for the 1957 model.... and CK is right, might as well go for the real vintage then...

Marketing. I guess not many knew that the Speedmaster came out before the popular 'moonwatch'.

The original was the CK2915-1 (cal 321) made in 1957 with the so called broad Arrow hands, borrowed from the Omega Seamaster.
The next model, CK2998-2 (cal 321) made in 1958/59 with dolphin hands and the MKII dial.
The next model, CK2998-6 (cal 321) made in 1958/59 with dolphin hands and black dial (moon watch dial) and luminous chrono seconds hand.
The next model, CK2998-4 (cal 321) made in 1958/59 with dolphin hands and black dial (moon watch dial) and non luminous chrono seconds hand.

The CK2915 and CK2998 are very rare and difficult to find.

The next model, ST105003 (cal 321) made in 1964. Looks like the moon watch we now know and love, with straight hands.

Personally I do like the Broad Arrow reference 3594.50, but I guess it is 'safer' to go with the 3570.

Better price when you want to sell it. If I were to get a Speedmaster, I would get the Broad Arrow and not the 3750 as I do not (rarely) sell my watches. But if you do sell your watches (for what ever reason), the safer bet would be the 3750 as it is the 'more well known' Speedmaster.

And it is also partially because the broad arrow hands are way too big and it completely obstructs the view of the smaller indices (the minute and hour sub-dials for the chornograph function).

If you do like this piece, the preowned price is a good couple of hundred SGD cheaper than the "basic" moonwatch of the same age and condition.

yes, we all know NASA issued moonwatches to their astronauts but personally the Astronauts all prefer and wears their own Rolex GMT to space.

Hype or not, but speedy did went through few torturous test by NASA without scratch.
