For sheer value for money the Omega PO 8500 is hard to beat. I find the word "beater" is overused. Are you planning to make it an "everyday" every "occasion" watch? I doubt you would be wearing it tuning ur car, playing football, badminton, etc... Like how you would wear a G shock

Try on all the watches listed and you'll know which one sings to you

Put aside the model, if you didn't own both brand, go Omega.

Why would anyone want to buy a Tudor?

Tudor is always known as a lesser brand to Rolex...prices are not that much cheaper. If you can afford a Tudor, might as well just add a few thousands to get an entry-level Rolex.

Omega, at least, is holding on its own brand name though some movements are not in-house.

In your case, I vote for Omega. But better still, get a Rolex!

My 2 cents...

Well, I used to think the same way, too.

Pelagos and BB changed my mind. They are awesomely well thought out, and they forge a path Rolex won't go.
They complement yet contradict the Rolex brand so well, and that's why I'd pick one before an Omega.

Ok. erin8817, I would have asked the same question. Tudor Pelagos or Omega PO? Having tried PO on a dealer shop, I was not impressed. But I haven't had a chance to try a Pelagos.

For me. I will definitely try to put both on and compare. See which one "sings" to you. After all you are the one who is going to look at it everyday. Get the one you won't regret later.

Although both choices are divers watch, there are significant differences to note:
Ti vs Steel; ETA2824 vs Co-axial 2500; micro-adjustable deployment clasp and superb lume on the Pelagos. You can dress up the Pelagos with a supplied rubber strap too. If prices are similar, I would go for Pelagos as the lighter weight of Ti makes it a more comfortable daily beater.

I thought the Pelagos came with extra nato strap and not rubber?

I regret letting go my Omega SM Ti, super comfy.

Pelagos for me too. The thing is this. Don't always think "what if I add on a few K....". If I had that few K which I can spend now, then I would go for it. Otherwise, we will be chasing after the ever elusive target with nothing on the wrist.

What about a LNIB Planet Ocean 2500? Cheaper than either, and beautiful watches.

Peter,
Not Nato.
Nato strap came with my JLC Diving Alarm on top of the standard leather strap....were you thinking of that?

My Pelagos comes with additional rubber straps (3pcs in fact including 1 extension) on top of the bracelet.

I love titanium watch cases coz they are more comfortable than SS, light and I like the gun metal grey..thats why I have several titanium pieces.. so does Tyler
Contrary to common belief, I've been able to polish away scratches from titanium
watches even in the past e.g. Sinn 144Ti

Choice of watches are always very personal. I had a orange bezel PO Chrono Co-Axial 3313 for abt 5 yrs before selling it off.
I find the fine brushed finishing of the titanium Pelagos case, ceramic and lumed bezel, dial lume, top sapphire crystal quality superior than the PO. Anyway I've always preferred titanium over steel, given a choice.
The PO however is slightly more accurate than the Pelagos but accuracy can be adjusted.

I thought the Pelagos came with extra nato strap and not rubber?

I regret letting go my Omega SM Ti, super comfy.

Thanks all for the advice...

I'll first look for a preowned Sub 116610 within my budget~ 18k.

If no luck, then i'll back to consider Seamaster vs Pelagos.
I'm leaning towards Omega between the 2.

Can look at the Seamaster Chronodiver if you like Chronographs. It uses a modded Valjoux 7750 so it is actually cheaper than a co-axial regular Seamaster. It is thicker due to the movement and wears large like a PO XL. It's a good compromise of price, features (has a chrono), brand and heritage (first Mechanical Chronograph that can be operated underwater).

I own 1 and I still yearn for a SubC but I satisfied that with a two tone GMT2c which is my "special occasion" piece. I use the Seamaster Chrono Diver as my daily beater watch and it has been with me to the gym, on Oil Rigs etc and it's super tough. Keeps fantastic time too. The bracelet scratches easily, but it's still very bling after over a year on the wrist.

Doubt you can find a 116610 at 18k but a 16610 might be possible.

There's one thing you have to be quite careful with regarding POs..
The sapphire crystal is curved and AR on both sides. Because its curved, it tends to get knocked quite easily and the outer AR coating will scratch & the coating comes off. I had that problem with my PO altho I'm generally quite careful. Replacement is quite pricy otherwise you polish off the outer AR completely. Wonder why Omega doesnt solve this problem by having AR only on the inside.
