planning to reward myself
« on: July 24, 2013, 04:29:48 AM »
Dear all,

i'm new in this forum, would like your feedback on the watches in this poll... the price difference between the 2 watches is almost RM1.8k-2k... depending on discount from ADs

i've tried on both, i personally prefer the Carrera due to its movement and sapphire caseback... the Aquaracer is a solid one, my wife is having the 27mm similar ladies model... good match if i were to get that too

i am still open to suggestions

photos for comparison (sorry if its too big, i plucked it from other pages):

thanks bro, i'm no diver but is there a lot of difference between 50m and 300m watches? the case, etc?

someone told me the case construction is more solid for higher WR watches

"Planning to reward myself".........My four favourite words!!!!

Aesthetics aside, I would go for the Carrera for their rich heritage. And also for the less common Calibre 7. This twin time also visually straddles the Carrera Heritage line and the recent launch if the Heuer line commemorating Jack Heuer.

For me there is really so much more to the Carrera heritage than the Aquaracer.

My dua sen worth.

Just the overall package.
But the rule of thumb is to get the one that YOU like.
Try on both.
The one that you're reluctant to take off... there's your answer.

Both are nice watches. Its depends whether you are more towards a diver or a traveler. Or just buy it for its artistic value.

But nevertheless, never buy it just because one is 'cheaper' than the other with a slight difference.

my 3 cents

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

I personally prefer the Aqua, but like the rest have mentioned... get the one that calls out to you most.

good advice... that's why in such a dilemma :'(
i'm weighing the entire package... the Carrera's having the good old ETA2892, where as the solid Aquaracer's having the new SW200-1

I would take aquaracer. setting the GMT is a pain in the ass IF the 12-hour hand cannot be move independently forward and backward. unless u r travelling a lot, GMT is pretty much for aesthetic. also, if you are travelling, having a non-independent 12 hour hand can be really painful to set local time.

won't be using much of the GMT function though... considering the Twin Time partially because this ETA2892 is the unmodded version of Omega's recently replaced 2500 Calibre (now they are going 8500, and the more recent anti-magnetic one 8508), its an upper end movement ;)

thanks for the feedback, this is something about GMT that i didn't know about at all

there's the 500m WAK model with ceramic bezel, same price with the Carrera, no point IMHO...

I'd go with the Carrera- very nice and classy, and the Carrera heritage is a deal-clincher, IMHO. Aqua seems to be really common these days- you see every Tom, Dick and Harry wearing one.
