Seiko JDM spotted again
« on: May 10, 2010, 08:57:17 PM »
For seiko JDM fans out there, spotted this in Cxxx Cxxxx in Lot 10.

Landmaster kinetic. Titanium case. Very light. This one at 50% discount. Good bargain i think.

Met this one again. First spotted in the KLCC branch. Still selling at 50% discount.

Wow Hush great find.
Looks like you like to hunt for Seiko JDM model eh hehe.
Surprised those 2 selling at 50% maybe not many normal folks know what they are.
Always wondered how to use the compass on the landmaster.

What I found last time was their retail price was so high that after 50% it is still slightly more expensive buying online.

Yeah, the seiko poison has infected me very badly. I am always on the look out for unique / rare seikos.

The landmaster looks ok.

The brightz seems more appealing now. I did not like it much the first time i saw it, but its unique design is starting to grow on me.

The landmaster seems to be a pretty good deal. Comparable to online prices. Also, bear in mind you get to molest the watch before buying. Can't do that online  ;)

Paid a visit to the shop again. Brightz is still there.

And spotted another which was not there on my previous visit:

It has the 8F56 movement:
+/- 20sec per year, perpetual calender, gmt, independent hour hand adjustment, 10 year battery life

Case is a mix of steel and titanium. Bracelet seems to be all titanium. Very light. 200m WR.

Looks like very old stock. From the serial no., seems to be made in 2002.

Was very very tempted to buy it when I saw the price. It's a damn good bargain! But manage to convince myself that this watch is not for me. Styling is a little over the top for me.

Thong Sia, keep em' coming!

I seen this watch posted on other forum, to change the batt they had to send back to Japan and have to be adjusted there.
I still dont get why is it a perpetual when you only have a date display?

Do you expect a perpetual calender to display day, month & year?

I have seen a video of seiko perpetual calendar movement (not this exact one but same family). For the change over from say 28 feb to 1st Mar, the day display will cycle through 29-31 and stop at 1. Pretty cool.

And, to ensure if the watch is set for the correct month and year, there is a function built into the movement (activated by the crown) which will move the minute hand and the date display and by counting the no. of ticks and the date changes, it will tell the user the month and year. If i can find the video, i will post it.

Check out the back of the shop, value buy section, bottom shelf. Easy to miss since it's not at eye level.

Sorry to bump an old thread. Here are some videos showing the 8F56 movement in action:

If anyone is interested in getting a seiko perpetual calendar, I came across some really good deals in certain watch shop in Tropicana City, a watch shop with a wide network of stores ( ;) most of you can guess which one I'm referring to). Saw some NOS with 50% discount on discontinued models. One of them is the JDM which i posted earlier but in a white dial.
