6152 homage project...
« on: May 02, 2010, 11:21:12 PM »
few months ago, our fren here asked is it possible to use his molnija movement for making a homage vintage rolex watch....

then i started my survey.... discussion.... finally we decided to make 2 vintage 6152 homage.... with modified movement...

process of purchasing is not easy... everything got to buy from oversea... payment and shipping... all take times n costly...

1st arrival.... the 6152 case....

47mm 316 st steel with proper engraving.... tall plexi glass crystal.... and the thick case solid caseback...

the famous crown guard

i also ordered the see through caseback.... because i wanted to show off the movement....

next arrival ~ the modified movement

so as the purposely aged dial and hands

at same time... thanks for the company of our members... i bought a big piece of leather locally...
started the strap making.... took me a long time for all these after i hv 1st child during the time... alot of thing done in the hurry....
so the quality is poor...

after sharing the process... another fren here... wanted to join my project.... so i started to source for his movement and case...

after some survey... finally found this flat fixed buckle....

finally done... not happy with the quality actually... but 2 busy so give up to do another 3...

found the movement doesnt fit the case... so force to search for custom made case ring that fit... budget burst....

at same time found chiew 3rd movement and his 6154 case..

i thought everything in order now

going to assemble...  %^&*(#$%

the winding stem from this original vintage pocket watch are without screw thread for me to cut it short for my new case crown!
spend some times again to source for custom made winding stem from europe again... burst budget further

then i found the  the case ring wasnt fit... got to pay for modification again.... &**^%$ :Blue: :Blue:

third movement came in

3rd watch suppose to be a small egi... with rose dial... but cant find... and ordered a purposeyu age light brown dial... but came a darker brown dial...
some part damaged during the shipment

then i found 1 of the 3 movement cant run well.... the balance wasnt sprung when dial face up... an winding stem screw is loose... some part rusted...
after some work.... 2 movement useful... the other is on the way back to UK now... gonna take some times.... due to the iceland valcano.... and worst is seller is not happy for the return... and refuse to repair/rep/ace free... now i stilll wating.... the movement to reach him! :Scolding:

Had the opportunity to meet up with Yen and his watch repairer last night. Peter came later.

Also had a first hand look at Yen's project works. One word to describe the finishing project,it was truly amazing...with so many man-hours to its creations. Its make me wants my project watch even more. (remember the 2533?)

Thanks for sharing and congratulations to its owner. Wear it in good health.

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

Nice pics Chris!
I was wondering if the dial was purposely aged yesterday when i saw it.
How bout the movt?
I saw that its somewhat "aged" as well, was it intentionally?
