Spotted this rare piece...

Spotted this in a watch shop in KLCC yesterday.

Just an average Fortis?


Not exactly. This one houses the famous Lemania 5100 movement.


First time seeing a brand new watch with this movement.


Price RM10k before discount. One of my grails is a watch with this movement. But I have to pass on this one since it's pretty pricey.

A very reliable and robust movement indeed. It's a shame that Swatch Group and Lemania discontinued the famous 5100 calibre. 
Read in WUS that some new Tutima still using it.
Wonder how much is the servicing cost since it's rare.

In watch magazine selling in Japan, whenever the is article about Fortis,it will mention that it is the first watch been used in space (by Russian Cosmonaut...careful..not moon, which mean Omega)..and Fortis is the first company in the world start selling automatic watch...from my reading, they won a legal fight with Rolex regarding this claim...so, thats what i know about FORTIS...

No, the first watch used in space is definately not Fortis. It was Russian made Sturmanskije.

Yes you should get it! Your Fortis collection will not be complete without it.

The watch was there many years since 2006 or earlier. I remembered there were 2, bracelet & leather.

I find for this 5100 calibre, fortis made a better watch than sinn 142. The only complain, I hv, is it is 38mm
