That was indeed terrible if the experience mentioned in Singapore is true.

Personally, I have dealt with Richemont Malaysia twice and so far it was pleasant and satisfactory. It was not related to Panerai though but was with my IWC. First experience was to send my Pilot chrono to have one of the hand of the dial adjusted as it was not centred while the second time was to have the case polished as I had a bad scratch.

That's no Richemont letter head on the quote, you can't assume that it is from there.

the actual cause is still unknown, tragic case for the victim

There have been horror stories about Panerai after sales service (service center). And at the same time, good ones. The concern I have is that people on a particular forum (Panerai related) seems to always offer advice in sending Panerai watches to independent or outside watch makers. This is sad as how would Panerai after sales improve or even know (if) there are defects in their design, e.g. the crown of the Radiomir.

As for the experience in Singapore, it would indeed be interesting to see what is the conclusion to the problem. It is sad to see this happen, but I hope it turns out well for the guy.

I too noticed that but was reluctant bring it up. Perhaps he/she was one of those many Singapore FTs (foreign talent) with PhD.

i guess the paneristi members do not want to bring it up as the PhD already chunked out USD 5K for a "repaired" case

if being criticized again on his english, the PhD might really get permanent head damage, poor fella

Wow, what a long thread... horrible case  :Blue:. Cant help but feel sorry for the lad as he had to go through such painful experience of dropping his beloved watch, then paid so much for repair, allegedly got sub-standard job, getting unsatisfactory service/explanation, being ignored, being doubted on the forum, having to repeatedly convince others, and so on... what a nightmare. I wouldn't have thought this possible in Sg but I am sometimes reminded perception may not be reality.

His English may not be impeccable but think we sidetracked here. Must one have superb English to get proper paid service? I feel he could have been "bullied" or taken advantage of... perhaps partly becos of communication issues, being too trusty or too easy with the cost quoted... although he did say he doesn't mind the cost as long as the watch was repaired as expected. Well, he is a first timer with Pam after all. He really needed help. Feels a bit like David vs Goliath but he shouldn't get shortchanged. Interested to know the truth and see accountability.

Maybe it has not gone high enough... like to that regional head or someone who can find out impartially what has really happened...
