Rm2k
« on: February 10, 2013, 06:44:48 AM »
Hello WIS,

And so I just got an angpau from my brother, got rm2k to spend on anew  watch. Can anyone recommend a nice swiss made simple dress watch? Preferably auto, 42mms, stainless steel bracelet with no weird lugs. Brand doesn't matter, as long as it is new, and below 2k(not going to top up)
Happy CNY to all,
Huat arr!!!

Thank you,
Jefnando

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm considering Frederique Constant. Can anyone tell me the price range of FC? I'm eyeing on the Classic Automatic.

hi guys!

For the price range under 2K, you still could get nice automatic swiss watches. I suggest you look for 1) Tissot Visodate 2) Mido Multifort 3) Certina DS First Automatic. Those watch come with reliable automatic movement and nice design without weird lung.

If you have  a little bit more budget,  for under 3K around 2.8K, you could check for higher brand like 1) Longines Conquest Automatic 2) Ball Fireman Racer. Both watch are a well know brand, very accurate movement and bonus for Ball come with a gas tube lume.

happy shopping guys!!

Thanks for the reply
I was eyeing the oris titan diver 300m. I'm aware of the price but it has been discontinued and my 8 months search was in vain, so I'm giving that up and planning to use only my angpau from my brother for a new watch so to call it a gift from my brother.

I saw a few tissot model, namely.the visodate and the la locle. Multifort dial is a little too busy. Guess I'm sticking with the tissot then. Gotta hunt tomorrow. Thanks again.

Btw, FC is a luxury watch with price that equvalent to high end tag. correct me if I'm wrong.

For the budget you have, Tissot is definitely a good choice. And, FC is not too far away from your budget provided you don't look into their in-house range. Happy CNY!

FC is among the higher end brand. Oris Titan is much more expensive than Tissot. I'm not really into diver watch because its size too big for my wrist. For the entry level, I also start with Tissot PRS 516 automatic with SS bracelet but right now , I'm eyeing for the Tag Heuer Formula One , 2011 model. Even it is quartz.I can't stop thinkin' bout it buddy!  ;D

Saw a vsa officer auto 2013 model with ss bracelet... Its within my budget with 30% discount. Now I'm in a dilemma....
Never gave a thought about glycine... Perhaps due to the color scheme

Lurch,

Really can get a Glycine for under RM2k? Which range(s) are you talking about?
Went to its website and the Combat and Incursore collections seem pretty nice to me.

Tissot, Mido and Certina are all under Swatch Group - do you guys think/know whether underneath they are all the same?

go to the shop in 1U and check out the incursore range.
its slightly above 2K after discounts
those in the websites are newer models and cost more. all the best

I ended buying the vsa officer. Wanted the black with ss bracelet but ther only have in leather, not willing to swap the ss bracelet from the white. And since the black only come with a simple buckle, I ended up buying the one with silver dial, leather strap with deployant clasp. This forum had been up for sometime, how come now user friendly method to post pic like WUS? :HammerHead:
