Malaysia is world champion in corruption!
« on: January 18, 2013, 11:42:51 PM »
Like the title says:
Malaysia is world champion in corruption

I can't really believe it's gotten so abysmal that we beat out both Indonesia and Mexico, but apparently people tell me it's gotten worse in the past few years. It really isn't so bad if everything is spread out; but almost all the money is siphoned into a select "lucky" few  with political connections. I guess, they are sucking it all up while they still can.

I question and doubt every single statistic from American press. They have a history of fabricating truth. Why should anyone put they faith into a country who use war as primary income....

Please don't pay attention towards this. It'll only get you to hate your life.

It depends who you wish to believe and your own personal and professional experience. Personally, I think the sitiuation here is not rosy, but not deep down in the abyss either.

....and to Hindustani Times, maybe they should consider reporting more on the shit you get in India rather than repeating survey results of other countries.

I think to say that Malaysia is worse than Mexico & Indons is a little far fetched..Sure there's corruption here but the survey itself draws some flaks here & there..Who's really the "target group" that they interviewed? If they interviewed those who didn't got anything from the govmnt surely the answer will be like that..For me, as long as I can "carik makan" & can spare some cash to buy some cheap2 watches is good enough for me..Hehehehe...

This link appeared in a few facebook pages that were shared with me and apparently in opposition magazines. Now, I googled the title and only the Hindustani Times link shows up and a lot of links to it from Malayisan opposition bloggers/websites. Transparency.org puts us right in the middle of the pack - better than some, worse than some. From my personal POV, Malaysia is NOT the world champion in corruption - its just pretty average (or a bit below), not hardly champion. I would think the dictatorships in the "****-stan" countries of the former USSR would top the tables. You are right guys, smells like a planted article to make things look badder than it is.

So now, it would appear that mud slinging is not restricted to one side only.

Edit:
Hmmmm, found a link to Wall Street Journal. Maybe not so fast to dismiss it after all.
Malaysia Called Most Corrupt Country for Business

Hard to say, Western journalists kind of lax with their fact checking nowadays. It's all in a "third world" country and it's all entertainment for them. Americans committed one of the most corrupt actions ever when they gave sweetheart deals to their own banks and bailed them out in 2007-2009.

Seriously, inorder to start a business in Malaysia, you need to get hitched with "local partners" who are conveniently families of politicians.

I hardly call that transparent.

Worst than Mexico n Indonesia ... In covering corruption ? Or corruption ?

I been to few countries exploring business opportunity, corruption is open in least develop countries... Can u imagine the CCTV in custom is to capture how much he is taking to show his colleague for the share later, so they take money in front of CCTV
N the dominant gov is covering the facts, brain washing their ppl is common, ppl not that hate gov...

While in Msia... Ppl getting smarter with the flow of information ...
The stronger the opposition the more info u get to compare
Hence perception about corruption is bad is strong
Besides that it can b true the chances of loosing its 50+ yrs legacy... So better syphone out the big money as soon.
So question is Msia more corrupt in terms of volume or culture?
(I think no question corruption exist for those who done business deal both in private n government sectors)
N more or less also v shd not compromise any of it right?

Corruption starts from the head, just like the fish it rots from the head. So chop off the head to stamp corruption..

This reminds me of what my Indonesian friend told me about the Indonesian military and police force during the 97 financial crisis and racial riots over there.

The police and military were waiting outside their house to "escort" them to safety for a fee. Thus it's a free for all mercenary, gun for hire.

How are you sure the safety of you and your family is guaranteed when our Malaysian armed forces are paid peanuts too and corruption and misuse of power is rampant and outright. You would definitely be safe for a "price"

Like what Manic Street Preachers sang "if you tolerate this, then your children would be next"

With the military being so impartial and the top heads stating they are loyal to the "ex-defense minister" how sure are you he would not unleash them on us if he loses the election?

Bro, both sides got more to lose if either let chaos happen in Malaysia. Indonesia's violence has roots in dutch colonial policy of targeting Chinese business everytime they feel threatened. In Malaysia major assets and banks and businesses all in govt and public (epf,  tabling hajji etc) hands. Lots to lose and years of recovery if there is chaos. Malaysia is the only country in sea with no military personnel in govt. Even Singapore has.

Bro, do you live in Singapore? Obviously u hv been listening to too much pap or lky version of the alternative history of Malaysia or u hv been away for too long.....our police may be corrupt but things are not that bad.

I have always maintained that Singapore should be called USSR instead "Unioun Socialist Singapore Republic".. It's a socialist country. Malaysia and Singapore is a perfect example of the Cantonese saying "Snake, rat in evil".

We learn each other's evil tricks, except Singapore is the perfect example of George Orwells "Animal Farm" where the plebeians tote the line and toils and the top elite echelon lives in luxury.

Just look at the proliferation of HDBs around the nation, it reminds me of the public housing of the great Soviet vision. The rich are courted to park their money while their own citizens sweats under the sun to protect foreign money.

How else would you explain, as an ASEAN member, why does not Singapore have extradition laws with Indonesia until recently.

Why else would China send their officials here to study "a one party rule of a nation"?

The only difference between HK, Malaysia and Singapore is that both HK and us dare to voice out our dissatisfaction.

The question now is, what would you do to correct this?

That explains why there are so many wtach boutiques iin KL:)

It is a well known fact that corruption is every where in Malaysia from the top guns in civil service down to a junior police officer.

I had an accident ac ouple of years ago and lodged a report in the policer station in Jalan Tun HS Lee. He traffic police officer who took my statement had a Rolex Sub on his wrist and it did not look like a fake to me.

I think there nothing wrong with police for wearing sub? Who say they cannot wear sub or other expensive watch? Nowdays you can do instalment payment for teh watch for ppl who cant afford to splash a huge sum of $$ in one go.

It is a well know fact that corruption is a very serious issue in the boleh land though all our government top guns deny it. From unnegotiated multi millions ringgit government projects to RM 50 demand from policemen, corruption does exist in all levels unfortunately.

I have good laugh whenever our so called leaders talk about vision 2020 and becoming a developed nation :Blue:

Politicians are not the one who will make Malaysia become a developed nation. Vision 2020 is up to the citizens to achieve. Politicians from both sides are mostly just hot air anyway.
