Gift ideas (very low budget)
« on: December 13, 2012, 12:14:00 PM »
Hi all,

Planning to get a gift for the dad...
Very low budget, RM400 - RM500...
Prefer Automatics, with SS strap and Seiko brand...
Was looking at Seiko 5, but not very sure what's the price for it...

Any other recommendation for a watch that I could get?

Thanks!

For that price range, Orient, Seiko, Citizen or Alba are very good choices, real watchmakers unlike Gc, Fossil, Rascal ...ooops Roscani, Tikus.. ooops Titus, etc..

Citizen, Orient, Alba (owned by Seiko) are priced lower than Seiko and all have their own in-house movements. Just don't expect super accurate mechanical watches in this price range. If accuracy is impt go for the quartz or solar

Seiko 5 and Monster automatics
Seiko quartz and solar also in this price range but not Kinetics..

Seiko owns Orient.

I think, the relationship is like Swatch vs Tissot (Swatch group owns Tissot). In this case I think Orient is aimed at  a higher market niche than entry level Seiko 5 watches. Much like Tissot > Swatch marketing wise.

It would seem so:
Orient movements
Seiko Calibers
