Carryology
« on: October 30, 2012, 07:37:43 AM »
Mornin mate  ;D
Would like to dedicate this thread to stuff we carry like wallet, briefcase, luggage bag, camera bag etc ..  ::)
Like my discovery of the english shoe, i am searching for items with better quality and last longer, improve with age, attain a patina and even maybe can pass to the next generation etc .. like a watch

During my quest to search for a replacement for my braun buffel, i encounter and shorlisted include the following
Filson
http://www.filson.com/
http://www.filson.com/luggage/briefcases/-1019/
Saddleback
http://www.saddlebackleather.com/
Glaser
http://www.glaserdesigns.com/
Copper
http://copperriverbags.com/
swaine adeney
http://www.swaineadeney.co.uk/

The list is long but i got some of the item above incoming and will review them whenever is possible

the most attraction is some the goods above come with a 100 year warranty, guess they will outlive me  :Laughing_on_floor:

I love the fact you dont have to baby it around.
However it does not age as nicely as leather would.

I have a lot of experience using and also hearing first hand accounts about briefcases and cargo bags.

Rimowa are how u say "looks good and not good to eat" not exactly durable cheap. Just ask any authorised multi brand servicing agent. This includes the soft and hard aluminium cases.

U wan something really durable, that can be thrown around? Try Zero Haliburton. Unofficial choice of the US government. Rumour has it that it is good enough to house the atomic football.

But be forewarned, those ZH are heavy. So it might eat into your travel loads allowance. Also if you carry one of those aluminum briefcases, you'll automatically be a target of mugging and theft cause ppl watch too much movies.

Sometimes pay extra use branded stuff also good choice. I am using an LV wallet for the past 5 years. Same wallet until leather cracking. So gonna replace soon with a Gucci wallet. Nice supple leather compared to LV. I am looking for nice pair of leather shoes for work soon. Gonna go look for some English if I can afford along Jalan TAR. Nothing complicated. Don't like shoe laces cos I am lazy to tie.

My favourites are Victorinox bags & gears. These are what I have now, usually buy at Airport for tax free price.

Ivan,

Let me show you this lady.
http://www.aprilinparis.us/beatrice

I might be visiting her for a custom wallet.

ALL the experience/know how/quality/material (Hopefully) of Hermes and 30% less +-. Minus the name.
And the wallet is not cheap either, almost usd1k.

But the good news is you can custom any design and combo you like!

Alot dont know, for LV lots of their product is canvas and not all leather.
My calf leather LV has served me well, but may not as well as i would have wanted.

I am using a RL Purple Label card holder. So far it's been holding up very well for almost 2 years.

but of course with every leather product... do not stuff it in your tight jeans pocket. this includes LV and etc...the piping on the sides would come off.

Filson is cool. been toying with the idea to get one. so far my travel duffels been always LV 55cm carryalls and Halo Inspirations leather duffels and tote.

Halo is a small leather company in HK that produces custom made leather furniture. they branch off into bags and produces no nonsense, quality leather wares at very reasonable prices. Can check them out. think they have a store in Marina too.

Yeah cant open website from my office too.

Ivan,
APR i think the shop sells ready made wallets as u can see from the website.
Unless u want something custom and non standard then it would take time.

Hoping to visit her in Jan if i have time to stop by.
