Need help with identifying Seiko
« on: October 26, 2012, 12:30:31 AM »
Hi there. Dug out an old watch I bought before prom to impress a date over 10 years back. Could anyone please shed some light on the model? Here are some pics...

Friend,

I guess at that age girls are probably more impressed seeing a fashion watch like DKNY, Guess, Chanel.....watch. The back sticker is still on so I gather you did not impress your girl too much and decided not to wear it anymore.  ;D ;D ;D

Your watch runs on the very reliable work horse 7T62 movement which is still in use in many recent seiko models; you also see it in the recent Seiko-Barcelona chronograph I believe. If you say you got the watch over 10 years back, from the serial number, watch was probably made in June 2002. So if you bought it for prom nite at the end of 2002 then it probably just arrived a the the shop from which you bought the watch when you bought it.

Hope the above helps.

SND33 runs on 7T92; this one is 7T62. It also has Hardlex crystal and not Sapphire Crystal on mine. That said, they do look very much alike.

I've never liked fashion watches, and I would never had gotten any of the above-mentioned. Even then, I remember having to really save up to pull the trigger on this; can't remember exact price, but under RM1k. That said, this watch did get a lot of wrist time, up to the point where I bought another watch some time in 2006. Even the strap has been changed twice from wear :)

Missed out a 'like' in my sentence.

7T92 = hardlex
7T62 = sapphire
