Hamilton X-Wind Rose Gold Screw-down Crown came off - Ouch!!
« on: October 25, 2012, 07:33:20 PM »
Hi,

I have owned a Hamilton X-wind Rose Gold model watch and recently the screw-down crown came off.  Is this part easy to fix? Where can I fix this watch in KL/PJ area and any idea how much. I was quoted RM500+ in SS2 [xxx] watch.

Would appreciate your kind advice Sifus.

Thank you.

Ok. here are some update. Decided to go with Rm900 replacement.....why??

The watch has been sent to Goldhill Swatch Group to check. Guess what....becoz it is a rare item (Pink rose Gold)....it will cost RM900++ to have it replaced the middle section of the watch (I would assume the body + 3 other screw-down crown). If includes warranty, it will cost total RM1980++ which includes servicing. I Will keep everyone posted once I have received the watch back and see if the timepiece keeps accurate time also since I have been using it and its perfect before this replacement (and since I didnt opt to pay full RM1.9k)  - was told that some watch companies do minor adjustment on the watch so that you go back there again for service and to make more money (I doubt Swatch Group will ever do that).

Thanks everyone for your kind feedback and advice.

Why on a i presume still under warranty watch they say it needs servicing?

Even so it should be done FOC if under warranty.

Unless they can prove the crown coming off is your wrong doing, that should also be covered under warranty.

Interesting. Replace the middle section of the watch. Does that mean a case replacement?

The Hamilton X-Wing is a favorite of mine. Thinking of getting one for my collection. A question to you @bcitextx,

Do you believe it was a manufacturing flaw or it came off because it was knocked against something?
