Tag designed their product in a futuristic style and priced it is reachable but not cheap. You need quite an effort, depending on ur status, to get it so make it so desirable for the young ones.

My first dream watch was this automatic Omega Constellation Chronometer day-date with grey dial when I was in secondary school wearing Citizen, Seiko, Pagol, Sandoz and Titoni (some on loan from my elder brothers).
For some reason, I never wore a digital quartz watch even though some of my classmates had Seiko digital quartz with lots of functions..
Subsequently I did buy myself a gold filled Omega Seamaster day-date analog quartz with my first ever pay...

In circa 1990 a gold filled Omega Seamaster Day-Date quartz was selling for a princely sum (in those days) of about M$900-1200, if I recall correctly? Your first pay check must be pretty princely as well.... ;)

My first dream watch was the rolex precision oyster perpetual. First laid my eyes on the vintage at a used watch shop in a mall.

Good taste you have. An Omega as first real watch.

They still look good today although a bit tad small but they are ok. Today I had first hand experience winding my grandpa Datejust. My dad left it idle and it stopped. Unlock the crown it pops out and the spring mechanism still shows solid tensile strength after so many years.

First pull I was unable to adjust the date on the Datejust. My dad corrected me. Dumbass me wind it forward to adjust date. Nope. It has to be wound counterclockwise. First time I see when it reaches midnight or slightly past midnight the date ch-change confidently. Amazing. The power of Rolex I admit. Lovely watch.

For me, it was what I always saw in advertisements from (if I remember correctly) Newsweek, Reader's Digest and National Geographic..

"the Oyster Perpetual Superlative Chronometer... Officially Certified.. Day-Date"

The other one was ".. you never really own a ....., you just take care of it for the next generation"

Good advertisements are powerful aren't they?

I guess the interest in horology here in this country only picked up very recently say after year 2000? I am just guessing and anything prior is all Tag Heuer only. Yes? No? I only got interested in 2003.

Back 2000, lot mature successful man are looking at Rolex, Omega.. For youngster, all Tag :)

I still remember, it almost all flooded by replica Tag watch at Petaling street that time..

i guess, my dream watch was Swatch Chrono and TAG was heavily marketed back then towards youngsters. other brands attract older successful people. (+30s)

True enough. I was a fresh grad then. How to wear Rolex, LOL or even dream of AP, JLC, IWC, Breguet, Blancpain, Patek...nah, maybe an Oris but Oris never advertised. What about Omega? Why I did not think of Omega then? Probably it would have cost me 3x my salary. Eat white rice only and drink tap water to get one. These brands mentioned in the 90s their design so so only. Maybe both Omega and Rolex design stayed the same throughout.

Thats the traditional design kept's their value.. i guess..

My first dream watch was the Tag Heuer diving watch 2000 series, black dial, steel bracelet (running on battery, that time i don't know), i saw my manager wearing this and i got to know the watch brand "Tag Heuer", it look so smart and solid for the watch, since then, i set my aims to getting one by working hard on my career to reaching a status where i deserve to own one, that's my very first dream watch.

Years pass, the watch was discontinue production by the time i would like to reward my self after all the hard work with this Tag Heuer 2000 series, and, i start to look for Kirium, but Kirium discontinue too.

Eventually i own my first mechanical watch "Oris TT3" and follow by "Tag Carrera (special edition)", Before the Oris TT3 I'm wearing a Swatch Irony.

Back to school time, few watch's i own and some still with me till this day
The Beatles Watch Limited edition (with guitar shaped wooden slide open box)
G-Shock
G-Shock G-Cool (not sure any ones here remember this G-Cool?)
Spoon Watch

Watch to me its not only a time keeping machine, it also means a rewards for an achievement in my goals, more importantly watch to me is a machine that should "solid" enough to be a "companion" that able to follow for whatever things i do and wherever place i go..Just like what mention in most of the sport watch advertisement tag line..

:)

Was never much of a watch person before this. I went through the various swatch but still envy those rich kids with Tag and Gucci G watch (came out during my high school years and some rich boy had it) but was too oblivious to take note of the different models.

Buy yesterday I tried on this and do dream about owning one to complete the oyster collection. The Marc Jacobs

During my schooling era , when the 1st indigo watch was lunch ( I think timex) , everyone was going crazy about it , everyone want 1 . Bought a preowned guess indigo that time , I remember wearing it to sleep just to play with the indigo feature , g-shock came later with the indigo feature .

NICE!!

What's the asking for that? The endlinks look a little worn though. Or maybe it just needs new spring bars?
