Watch suggestions
« on: October 11, 2012, 12:38:35 PM »
Hi all,

I currently have a Tissot Visodate (an automatic watch), and would like to further get better / higher class Swiss watches.

However, my budget is around RM4,500.

Any recommendations? I prefer Automatic watches and 40mm diameters.

I was looking at the Oris Big Crown Complication, any comments and suggestions?

Is there any Tag (automatic) that I could get in that price range?

Thank you!!

If you buy used watches, you can actually find bargains that are worth twice your budget compared if you had bought them as new. Check out the "for sale" sections of MWF. Just a thought.

I second what STT1987 said. Go pre-owned and you might just find what you're looking for and more. Discontinued and vintage models aplenty.

Hi all, thanks for all the help so far...

So far, I have ran down to this several models :

Oris Big Crown Complications (white face with black leather) - within my range, like it at 7/10
Ball Hydrocarbon Magnate Chronograph (have yet to find out the price), like it at 8/10
Ball Trainmaster Celsius - (have yet to find out the price), like it at 9/10

Any comments or suggestions or rough retail price for both the Ball watches?

Thanks again all

If you stretch abit to 6-7k, can get a preowned Omega Seamaster 300m. Depends what you are after. Tag's don't keep their 2nd hand value that well so maybe a 2nd hand auto Tag is a good deal, like an Aquaracer or Carrera.

If brand new, Oris, Ball, Longines are your best bets for Quality. Off these, I like the Longines Hydroconquest the most. Classy brand with lots of marketing & nice watch.

If you want immediate recognition, at that price range probably a new Quartz tag (especially the Formula-1) is the most recognizable. But obviously build quality is another story since it's quite plasticky. You are basically paying for a ton of marketing.
