G-Shock G1200....suitable for any situation...and would last for a very long time (if not forever)

To me quartz is as long as the circuit boards still work and ensuring when battery dies and we are aware of it so that the watch still works. But then can the GShock rubber material on the case and strap last so long?

Without doubt, g shock frogman...  ;D

To be honest I quite like GShocks. And to be honest, I have never worn a GShock before my whole life. I always walk past windows looking at Mudman, Frogman and the classics, those simpler and earlier model Gs. When I was young I wore Casio but no GShocks. Easily shocked ones. Alba, Edec I cannot remember the brand name. Went Uni my dad bought me more Casio digital but never GShocks. :( I am sure they are tough like hockey pucks. But the rubber material I not sure cos it's gonna be my one watch lifetime only.

GMT master II !

Good choice. Ceramic or non ceramic / aluminium bezel? I guess we may need a very versatile watch to carry on as our only watch. 3 timezones, Rolex some more, sure can last wan.

seiko marine master sbdx001  ;D

Ivan, why not the SD Deepsea which u used as your icon? I have seen the Seiko Marinemaster before at Moments, that watch shop at the Curve. Not bad. But expensive for a Seiko. Don't know.

An easy answer would be my 1st serious watch. The one that my wife gave me. A truthful answer will be when I get down to 1 watch it won't stay "1" watch..

Tyler, whether faint or heart attack, u got no choice. Have to pick one. Which watch is that, the one your wife gave you? Must be some real sentimental and romantic watch I bet.

Keep my PP 5711/1a

That is a real all time classic!!! Nice choice. Just like the Royal Oak. Very the nice. I was once at Kinokuniya buying some watch magazines and next to me was a young stylish handsome manly man wearing a 5711 the earlier models, smaller diameter one, 5711 too, right? Honest story.

I would say Submariner 14060m

Its versatile... I can wear it in ALL occasion......

I was thinking of my own 14060m, Jacky but also torn between the Sub and 114270. The Sub nice to be the only watch cos I can turn the bezel but I don't dive and only occasional swim and shower or sometimes get in the rain whereas the 114270 so simple, understated, classy, 36mm charm and I don't go cave exploring or climb mount Everest, not even small hills or cliffs but it's nice to wear. So how?

Has to be this one which I have kept since 2008.Its got almost everything (to me at least)..chrono  for timing purposes,day/date for absent minded me,well made solid link bracelet, bright lume, super legibility.Wish it had a unidirectional bezel as well but then again you can'thave it all.It is a take-anywhere watch

Nice watch I like the amagnetism of it. It looks quite mucho. Ya, wish it had a bidirectional 12 hour time intervals so that we can use it like a second timezone when we travel. I got mine in 2008 too from Pavilion IWC. My regular friend who worked in Sincere KL Plaza last time, top salesman then moved to SWG also top salesman there who can also sell for Rolex and IWC at Pavillion was responsible in showing it to me one weekend. Some of u may know this guy.

sadly, my current collection is not large enough for me to decide which watch to keep for life. i think it's because i haven't got that one yet.

It need not be a large collection at all, dpKong. It is supposed to be from your current collection. Small collection easier to focus too. I am sure u have one.

same here ..  :'(

but mine would be same as besview's, i like the watch because it can match diff straps for diff occasions/mood ... 3717, nice on leather, carbon strap, ss and nato.
target for 40th birthday or (38th depending on economic situation)

It's a tough call between my Sub 14060M and Rootbeer 16713.

Something that I can still see myself wearing when I am 80. Timeless and comfortable. But when I am a frail 70 year old, a smaller ExpI would be more suitable.

It'll be real awkward seeing an old man with a ROO on the wrist or even leaving a big arse Barrichello as an heirloom.

U like better buy now lor. 3717 price for leather one is now at least 50% higher compared to back in 2008. Not encouraging buying watch for investment but to point out prices always up, never down. Hope u get it for your 38th burpday. Congrats first ;)

True enough, Terrence but maybe at age 70 we may not be frail? the Sub may last longer for it's ever surviving classic look. Yeah I like you Rootbeer when I first came across it here, different from the everyday 16710s that we see around. Well u can always change it to Coke or Pepsi through bezel change. A bit modified but use original Rilex parts only.

ROO is different league. The muthafu@@ing pieces are huge and so pricey that I dont understand why: a bit like Big Bang series outside big and adventurous, inside movement nothing to shout about. I am talking about the watch, not the Korean hip hop band which I happen to have 2 of their CDs :p

I have seen old strong uncles wearing Sub before. Happen to know one who smokes like 3 packs a day wearing his Sub. Quite cool. Steve Macqueen oriental style. Exp I will fit right on the wrist and not move about too much if compared to bigger pieces. Good point.

You can actually use the chrono function as a second timezone but troublesome in that have to wait for 12 noon to strike on either timezone then you press start the chrono button. You then adjust the regular hands to the other timezone

That's a quick one, but I am just not a chrono guy unfortunately. Not a single chrono in my collection except seiko quartz chronos. But those 2 you have there are BEAUTIFUL........I would urge you to wear one on each wrist on 21 Dec 2012 just unless the Mayan prophecy comes true..... ;D

There's no date so they're not worried about the Mayan prophecy

 :Laughing_on_floor:

Oh.. and I read somewhere that the Mayan calendar didn't consider the leap year issue so technically, we've passed the Earth's use-by date...
