Need advice to send watch back to USA
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:02:05 PM »
Hi, I am new here
but I have a question. I have a damaged watch that still under warranty. I want to send it back to my USA seller.
But I don't know how to do it?
Can anyone help me?
Can I ship it by Poslaju EMS? What should I write to avoid my watch from getting stolen by greedy custom? Should I just write watch? or Broken watch?
I never send anything to oversea before, any expert please teach me.
Yes, one more thing, do I have any trouble sending out a watch? I scared custom will blocking.
Thanks :D

Sending won't be a real problem. It is best to ask the seller for a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorisation) which will likely avoid the receiver from getting taxed at entry. At the same time, getting instructions from them would be best.

Poslaju EMS will be an economical and fast method to send. But if the item is expensive, it would be best to ask about Fedex with third-party insurance for full replacement value.

There are many ways to describe a watch (check one of the threads here) but it's best not to overdo it and risk problems at entry to the USA.

I bought it from ebay. So I am not sure about RMA. If I just send it without RMA, should be okay, right?

The item won't be expensive. It was $150 when I bought it, so Poslaju EME will be okay?

Okay I will use search function to check it out. Thank you for your help. :Dancing_banana:

I have shipped dozens of watches to the US including Rolexes using plain old registered mail but please describe as non working watch for repair as a deterrent.Fedex is a little troublesome as they will ask you questions about what the item is made of,how many % steel, gold where its made among other ridiculous questions.EMS is quite expensive actually as pos malaysia uses a third party carrier eg fedex planes so in actual fact, pos msia are agents.

If you ship a Rolex, make doubly sure you do not mention the name as Rolex watches are prohibited from entering the US and will be confiscated.

Wow man, any idea why US banned Rolex from entering the country?

Read something about this a while ago but IIRC,it was Rolex who initiated this ban.Things could have changed,I dunno.Having said that, one of my Rolexes got thru no issues but if they open the package,I might not be so lucky

Rolex is not banned. You just need to be a US AD to import Rolex.

Obviously we are talking about individuals bringing in Rollies in their private capacity

Individuals (here, refering to US citizens) may also bring in Rolex to the USA in the private capacity, provided they pay the necessary duties and taxes (which I believe is exempt for certain cases).

Shipping a Rolex in by a carrier is considered "importing" a Rolex and for that, Rolex USA does not allow.

Just to clarify so that others won't think Rolex is banned from entering USA.

Don't play play, they will be seized...

"The Rolex trademark recordation with Customs indicates "Import of Goods Bearing Genuine Trademarks or Trade Names Restricted." This means that genuine Rolex products can only be imported with the permission of the trademark owner, Rolex Watch U.S.A. Inc. A private individual can hand carry one Rolex watch from a trip overseas without obtaining permission. Bring in more than one, and they will all be seized as a trademark violation. Purchasing a Rolex from overseas by mail is also a trademark violation."
