Entry level watch
« on: August 28, 2012, 07:10:24 AM »
Hi Guys,

My first post here :) I am Jay, my fren recommended me to this forum.  Please let me know if this is not the correct place to post.  ;)
thinking to get a swiss made mechanical watch. havent decided which model to go for. currently this is the  1 i have shortlisted (still looking for more options)
What i like about this watch is because it is automatic mechanical(no battery required right?), sapphire crystal, the looks and it is about RSP 2650. Any comment? or any recommendation(budget is <3k, cheaper the better :D)? I just started to learn about watches.

Don't forget though mechanical watches do not use batteries, it requires service every few years or so (depending on brands and use) when the time is vastly inaccurate or stop beating. Just in case, u forget this tiny point. :)

Typically mechanical watch at that price you are looking at has the variation of +/- 15s / day. Better ones are about < 5s / day.  if you very particular about accuracy then mechanical watch is not for you. i had the problem when i bought my 1st mechanical watch. it took me a while to get used to mechanical watches.

People have many different reasons as to why they buy mechanical watches they buy. That is another discussions for other times.

For the budget, you should also check out Victorinox watches. They have really nice swiss made automatic watches with ETA movements.

Be careful, you won't stop at one! ;D

Anyway, wear in good health. In fact Tissot is also my first Swiss watch. Owned 2 before and it's really value for money.
