any 1 may enlighten me on the so called "riginal sandwich dial for Italy Marine"? some say the pam 000 and 005 are more close to "original" sandwich design?? the version i heard is the watch maker insert the luminous to the sandwich dial to fill up the gap and some even protruded out from the gap and forms a painted dial look and they call it "original" sandwich dial...  ???

i intend to get a Pam 111e from a collector but i look at the dial it seen like painted dial not sandwich dial...i m confursing so i hope the sifu here may clear my doubt

sandwich dial is like the old vintage designed...
but pre vendom till older version of pam111 n 112 also painted dial....

then the rxw made a more close to vintage pam/rolex 6152 with sandwich dial in their 47mm mm20...
pam realize ppl like the sandwich dial very much... so quickly make the 47mm 1950  with sandwich dial....
the historical line also change to sandwich dial

same happened to the pam249... california dial, it was made after the rwc1938 replicate the old pam/rolex...the of course u hv alot of the california dial cushion case been made later before pam249...

even the egiziano... so many ppl made that before pam as well....

my question is u buy because is close to original?
the logo actually was a modern creation, and not exist in the original vintage pam/rolex...

my conclusion is, the sandwich dial pam111 is closer to vintage design... but again vintage pam is 47mm, gold or blued hands not black n white second, none see through case back...

filled in dial (pam000 n 005 is not printed actually, the automatic contemporary pam is printed) is closer to pre vendome small production pam...

If i'm not mistaken, the logo (5218/201A) was the first Panerai sold for public (panerai watches was mainly produced for Italy navy before that)  in 1993 before Vendome bought over) and the PAM0 is the reissue of this model.. of course, price is much different...

Same as PAM5, it is also a reissue of one of the pre-vendome model... that's why these 2 models are rare and popular (but cheapest in the current production) because of its history....

PAM111 before H series,H series was the first to switch to sandwich dial and without decorated movement.
