Shopping for your other half

Sometimes I share my watches with my other half. So far she is only wearing mine. Hers are strictly ladies styled, so I dont wear them. 

So now I am thinking to get a watch for her.....but I am thinking to go for a unisex/male watch, which I can also wear sometimes : ) hehehe....

So I am thinking of an Explorer 1....until I saw a PAM 380. both will look good on her, as well as me. so which do you think is better?

Depends on her wrist size.
Explorer 1 36mm will be perfect for most women.
However, it also look rugged when women wearing big watch, i.e. Pam.
She likes big watch?

Unisex, I would say Rolex datejust 116220... smooth bezel for more understated... Or you can go with fluted bezel or one with diamond dial...
My boss wears one... and so does his wife... looks good on both at 36mm

Or you get get something more whimsical and funkier. The Airking comes in a variety of dial and index colours. The girls seems to love the look.

Women seems to love the YatchMaster S/S with the platinum dial and red seconds hand.

It's the only sports model that comes in 3 sizes. Was going to get the mid size for the wife but she said that since she already had 27mm and 34mm so now she would like to go for a 40mm for a change.

You can get a 40mm YM and share with her too.

While the Sub is an all time classic for many collectors, it always fails the wrist test on me. So its always KIV or push down the list. Its a watch I will only get for the sake of getting if I am rich and have spare money on the side.

The YM is beautiful and perfect for ladies the mid-size. but then I wont be able to share it.

The Airking with their funky colors are nice but again something I wont be able to wear.

A great funky and whimsical watch to me would be Vianney Halter's Classic in RG. But i need to strike lottery to get that one. That is my grail.

So I think you all catch my drift....money not enough, want to buy a watch both can wear and share. Thats why I shortlisted to these 2: Exp1 or PAM380

(as I am writing this in Starbucks, just spotted in the wild, a lady wearing a PAM380....not kidding... is it a sign)

Back on track....I know some of you will be thinking, what a cheapo...share watch...want to buy present buy la only for her. That's correct, but its because there is already a watch identified for that purpose. So to be fair its going to be a 1.5 (for her) + 0.5 (for me) time sharing thing eventually.

End of the day, the missus always wins..

Most of the time we will jointly decide, since she like big watches, we don have any issue on sharing watches, the only issue is I have limited fund...

How true. Got my wife a PO last year (the 2500 caliber). Really bought into the idea that the watch is rugged. From that point onwards, she "layak" the PO by going diving etc. The amount of scratches on the bracelet and casing could make you cry. only the crystal remains pristine (not sure for how long).

On the plus point - it does prove PO are tough and can take a beating being bashed against corals, side of boats, scuba tanks etc.

Hahaha funny the way u put it Kong, but sometimes she hijacks the ones I wear too...lucky is the straps don't really fit her.

Sean lucky she is into big watches and jointly is always good.

Dennis maybe u shd give her the Sinn instead, their tengimented steel is really damn good. Had my U1 for 6 years now it still looks new...I go traveling, swimming in the sea, sports, with it. Until u see my buckle it is really scratched up then u realize its an old watch.

Like u guys', she also bantai the watch kow kow.....but then again maybe there is something to learn from the ladies...they really wear watches like it should be worn...sometimes we are the ones pampering our watches too much, unless it's a dress watch. Tool watches meant to be real tool watches...I think the Exp1 would be the better choice after hearing your experiences

Maybe, you would want to check out the new airking-preowned. Can be had for around rm 9k plus with box and card.

I bought one (airking) for my wife and she is a happy women. Incidentally, I have also an Exp 1 all to myself................hence, no sharing. Sometimes it pain to see all scratches on a fine time piece at the women mercy.

Would like to share my 2 cents.
My wife would insist that she has a fine lady size time piece before we move into the "share" territory.
Hence I got a 31mm Rollie for her, the rest of my time piece, although technically mine, we share them every now and then.
Lately she's taken a liking to bigger size watches, I hardly see her wear her Rollie anymore.
It's easier for the ladies, they have choices of time piece for either gender, while men can/should/prefer to wear men's watches.
I have yet to see her wear my 44mm PAM though, although I've ordered a custom made shorter strap for "us", I can't wait to see how it'll look on her. My wife has really tiny wrist and she wore my 39mm Mark XVI loosely.
Personally, I got turned on by chix in masculine big watches. Hence I'm hesitant in getting a metal strap men's watch for meself, all my watches are leather strap. It offers the flexibility of being on her wrist or mine.

Guys, how does your misses wear your Rollie? I mean there will be at least 1 link size difference in the bracelet right? Or you guys are fortunate to share the same wrist size with your wife?

Dennis : I agree with you, my wife is really clumsy when wearing watches, she got a deep scratch on her Rollie on the 2nd month, sigh... at time I fear for my watches. I can at least justify that PAM has a military heritage and it's meant to look rugged. I dread the day that I got meself a nice dress watch and she scratch through it in no time... Like what she did to my Montblanc (Story for another day).

well she is eyeing my JLC MUT, my precious among all my watches now, which I am very hesitant to share as she is never careful....so I am still on a hunt for another MUT just for her.
