Total digits including Z = 7 digits = Z serial (2006-2007) Late Z serial does have rehaut. As for GMTIIc TT, surely will come with rehaut.
Total digits including Z = 8 digits = Random Serial (Late 2011-Present)

agree mostly with the above but would like to add..

1. the Rolex TT models are usually slow sellers compared to SS. a Z serial may have been manufactured much later than 2006-2007. i have a V series TT sold in 2012.

2. the information on the Internet regarding Rolex serial numbers and year made are rough guidelines and are not accurate on the actual manufacture date.

3. if you bought it new and the warranty card was properly dated, you would have no issues with warranty in the first 2 years from the date of purchase.

now, since Rolex has begun using the random serial number, say in the year 2020, how would you buy the latest watch?

If yours start with Z and follow by 7 digit numbers then its the new Random Serial

Verification fees in RSC kuala lumpur is RM 185 if not mistaken

The seller asked to collect my new stock today, but I was busy with something else. Will go to collect tomorrow. Hopefully is what I expected. New GMT master II ceramic TT with the current Randomised Serial Number.  :)

I will definitely go to KL RSC and get it verified within these two months.  ;)

hi,z series is definitely a 2006 manufatured.if you buy this watch from an authorised dealer, you dont have to bring it to rolex center to verify.

by the way, verification by rolex center will only tell by mouth only, charges is rm 185 before but increased since year 2012 because all the rolex center systems are linked with switzland.currency problem.Pls be reminded that they will not issue you any new certificate or letter notify you that its genuine or not, they will only tell you face to face and issue you a receipt with the particular written ' services"

Dear all,

Thanks for all your support and information for the pass two to three days.

I am delighted to inform you that I got what I asked for when paying for my GMT master II last Thursday. The seller actually exchanged one unit of GMT master II TT with randomise serial number, with the one I originally got from him (Serial Number, Z------).

He told me there are people who are particular with dates of manufacturing and he is really fine with that, no big deal he said. Cool...

He swapped their bracelets and then... I finally own the most expensive watch I have ever purchased. Thanks to him.

The whole process is sweet and reasonable.

Might post the pictures in the future after I learnt how to upload the photos into my posts.

Thank you and good day for now...

Great news!

What he said was bs, if he told you was latest production he was lying. Unless he said is NOS or just never been "owned" before.

But end of the day he has good customer services as he agree to exchange. At least happy ending now.

In this business world, I think you just try to maximise your profit whenever you can. For that, I didn't mean the seller tried to mark up a lot, he propobly just practicing FIFO (fist in first out), to sell off his older stock first. The older stock normally brings more problems to the seller because most customers want to buy new mechandices. NOS, although first hand is still old stock.

Although I don't see myself selling my watch anytime in the future, just in case I am selling it (to exchange for other models or for some other reasons), a later product will most likely equal to better asking price. At least that is what I think.

When making any significant purchase, I like to do tons of research. These are the fun parts on most of my significant purchases.

So whenever the seller said something which I think isn't right, i will tell him i don't think so, and he will either respect me as a knowledgable customer or chase me away for he can't con me. If he is confident that he is right and willing to tell me why, than we will end up having good conversations where we both trying to express our opinions and knowledges.

I knew he probably tried to talk his way around me in the first place, but he is just trying to do his job. BUSINESS. I totally understand that. Luckily I know how to look for informations that I needed. And I am not easily giving in.  >:(  . Next time when I go to him again, he will know what I want.  ;)

In this informative world, I think you need to know a lot more compared to the olden days, in order to earn the trust from your customers.

Truly enlightening GMTMaster.
It's the seller's job to sell the highest price possible.
It's the buyer's job to pay the lowest price possible.
If the product is bought at a "higher" price, it just means the seller is doing a better job than the buyer, there should be no shame on the seller's part :)
Reminds me of a saying, "The employee does the least amount of job without getting fired. The employer pays the least amount of salary without the employee quitting."

Since you would probably have spent around RM 35K for this watch, I guess it will be worthwhile to get RSC to confirm its date of manufacture so that you'll have a peace of mind. If the watch was indeed manufactured in 2006/2007, then I believe there also arises a question of storage for the past 5-6 years (which sounds rather long).

No, I was offered at a lower price than that. What is RSC?

RSC = Rolex Service Center

Glad that you have a happy ending. I agreed that the seller is just trying to mislead you earlier. guess thats the risks when we r buying from parallel importer or buying a pre owned stocks.
I am broke but I am happy...
