Which one is nicer? Is it worth paying 3k more for the chrono?

Thanks for the replies above. May I ask it is due to the history of mark or it is purely a matter of taste? Or other reasons.

I think it's down to personal taste and value.
The chrono at that kind of price, is nothing more than an ETA7750 with some modifications is not what I am prepared to pay.
The Mark although still running on ETA, it's fitted with IWC's proprietary pellaton winding system.
Other forums have been debating about the "in-house-ness" of the movement.
And most importantly, I like less complicated watches.
The chronograph that I own is the Zenith Rainbow Flyback and Zenith Chronomaster Open.
Zenith for me is what chronographs are all about.
Legendary, robust, reliable and tri-compax subdials at 3, 6, and 9 (which I feel is more balanced than 6, 9 and 12.

But in the end, whichever floats your boat bro, coz you'll be the one wearing... it's your money, as long as you're happy with it... we're happy for you.
Try on both and the one that makes your heart beats faster is the one you will bring home.

I would suggest the chrono but best to 'test drive' to get the feel for yourself. I have the 3777 and I'm loving it.

To the best of my knowledge, the 30110 calibre does not come with pellaton winding. Only in-house movements come with pellaton winding.

Yes, my mistake.
The movement fitted on the mark xvii is the 30110 which is a reworked eta 2892.

Mark 12. U will have to grab big pilot if you really want an inhous movement. Anyway, i think in house or not is not that crucial.

I would choose the chrono not the 3777 but the previous generation. The dial is more balance and the price could be better. The new date window is disturbing to my eye.

As for the markXVII ... ... I don't like it. My love for the old pilot watch stop at MarkXII

if u use the chorno alot (like me) then go for chrono.

If u prefer simplicity then go for the non chorno ones.

In that case Mark XVI can be had for quite a bargain in the preowned market. Although finding one on bracelet would be tough

the old versions 3717 and mark xvi aside...somehow the longer i look at mark xvii, the more interesting the watch looks...even though its dial might be simple...and the reverse is true for the chrono version... anyone shares my view?

It depends on whether you other watches has chrono.

I prefer less busy dial so i will take the 3777 if this is my first or 2nd watch.

If this is my third watch, i will go for more complications.
