« on: May 02, 2012, 12:53:48 AM »
Her current watch is a Seiko Quartz.
Kindly advice:
1) Below RM1,000
2) About RM3-5k

That reminds me mother's day is coming!!!

Below 1K ==> try citizen (eco-drive) or seikos. I believe they have a large range of ladies' models (seiko lukia is   but not 100% sure if this range is found in Malaysia). Or maybe Baby-G?

3-5K ==> try tissot or yes, longines. At that price range, you'll probably find the ones with quartz movement, which probably suits the ladies (from my own experience, often they don't have any interest in mechanical watches anyway). But I think you may also get your mom a Ball at that price range after discount.

If your mom don't mind 2nd hand, a Quartz preowned Omega Constellation half gold is a very good deal. Pretty sure you can find one under 5k. Omega is a famous brand and I'm sure your mom will love it.

If brand new, yea probably Longines or Tissot lar. I think for 3-5k, you can get a quartz Tag too.

I bought a Longines for my Mom.
Then this year, I got her a Rolex Date, but she don't like it... so my wife gets it.
She still likes the Longines.
Just a normal stainless steel quartz model.

Seiko/Citizen are safe bets - lovely ones for the price range you're looking at.

Don't get pre-owned. If I know ladies, deep inside, they hate the notion that their gifts were used before....always buy new

My mom is hung on unto her seiko 5 watch which worked for her many many many many years... She even asked me where to service it. Ending up telling her ask her to get a new watch cause a new seiko watch is the same price as the serivce.

I would go get one of those ceramic watch for her. This stuff never age, look new even after many years of use.

Go quartz for under 1k, auto for 3k~5k.

Rado, Fossil, DKNY, Armani, Gucci and Burberry is your best bet.

Regards
Tyler

Get a preowned S/S ladies DJ or Oyster Perpetual or Omega Constellation.

Spend a couple of hundred more to service and polish it. It would look as good as new and also would certainly last her a lifetime and can be an heirloom piece.

It would cost slightly more, but definitely would be worth every sen. Just my 2 sen opinion.

My mom is into bigger watches. She is wearing a men's Omega Constellation. Easier on the aging eyes as well with the bigger dial. But for below 1k I'd go with a Seiko. 3-5k a pre-owned Omega Constellation.

It is hard to get Lady DJ for RM5k

That is why I gave an alternative of Oyster Perpetual and Constellation.

Also I said that he would have to top up on his budget but at the end of the day, it's worth the money spent.

What is the approx price for a brand new Ladies DJ? just the basic stainless steel version.

My mom wants something that she can wear everyday so we are looking at Tissot now.

Cheapest ladies datejust brand new stainless steel is 18k.  :o

Better get a half gold Omega Constellation for that money, roughly 12k for the Quartz version. I think it looks better too.

RM12k for half gold quartz... better not, unless it is full 18 karat gold...

I second that.. 12k for a quartz constellation?! might as well get a preowned Ladies DJ.

Btw a SE told me that Omega is stopping production on quartz ladies constellation and going all auto soon. So expect new models to be on par with DJ prices.

if Omega is being sold as the same price as Rolex DJ, then I would certainly recommend the Rolex.
