a very sharp watch indeed. while only at 42mm, it does look bigger especially with the white dial. i like it!

42mm will be fine. I was wearing 47mm watches and i acquired a 40mm tudor snowflake..after a while, it is fine. But since you are used to 44mm, try not to dip below 40mm..other than that,it is ok. And the 42mm explorer 2 can go well with casual dressing. I cant see the reason why it cant.

I dunno whether it's true or not but according to my friend the black one is more desirable and hence command a slightly higher premium than the white one.... Pls correct me if I am wrong....

You are not wrong but not right either. The black one is perceived to be nearer to the watch it is paying homage to. The 1655 I believe which has a black dial too. At the end of the day, both lists at the same price so the black may premium higher but the official price is the same.

region dependent too. Asians prefer black and most others outside Asia prefer white. to pay a premium for this watch is absurd. i often see listings for these watches for BNIB listed well below MSRP.

i prefer the white. easier to read for old and tired eyes.

+1 on this....Asians prefer the more contemporary look.

Actually most chinese in the canton speaking world don't like white dialed rolexes...
Why?
Gold rolex is "kam lou"
White rolex is "pak lou" which means work for nothing.... Purely my observations ;D

Dude are you for real? "kam lou", "pan lou"????  That's funny :D

Then a Gold rolex with white dial will become "lou pak kam"  :Laughing_on_floor:

I still await the day where I can wear an all gold rolex and not look ridiculous.

Regards
Tyler
