I think sshark is correct that there's no import duty for wrist watches in Malaysia. That's why M'sia is one of the best places to pick up great timepieces due to the tax exemption.

Just put my name on waiting list for Stowa Airman Original.
i get massive case back instead of sapphire back.
Metal case back more toward original flieger feel.
Euro 850 + Euro 39 Fedex.

i don't have fedex a/c, i deal with them directly,
just explain to them Malaysia don't have import tax for wrist watch.
discussed with them for 1 month on this topic. LOL

I don't remember i will need to talk "tax" with Fedex when i ship watches out from Malaysia..

all i need to do is just to give them an invoice. If the ship-to country require tax, then it will be calculated based on the value i declared / value in the invoice..

is that the case?

A Japan online store offer me a Seiko MM 300 for USD1900 (which is around MYR6500), worth getting it?

silvertan, must economy bad.... last time alot of ppl nego with them on vat... they insisted it is charged by fedex!

scott, to ship out is ok... to bring in also ok...
but when we buy from those euro web site... they include the vat in the price... so we need to tell them malaysia no vat... the vat 19%... so they try not to exclude that because it will affect their selling price.... their agent in asia will loose out as well....

new mm for rm6500 is good price!

Today, The xchg rate is 1USD=RM3.7 so the watch is roughly about RM7k

You going to pay via Paypal?
If your paypal charge from credit card, the price even higher.
Normally credit card exchange rate slightly higher.

i remember once i charge U$ 200 from my card.
i checked the rate is around 3.5, but my card statement after conversation is around 3.65  >:(

Ya, the asked for Paypal and I understand the charge/exchange rate is much higher if paying through credit card... anywhere..i don't have a paypal account yet :D

If it's close to 7K, i will rather buy locally. Do you know where else properly selling this MM 300?

you can try ask the seller give you 3 % discount if you send money via paypal mass payment service.
Sender bears the cost for 2% or U$1 max.
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_batch-payment-benefits-outside

caused Paypal will charge 3.4% from the money received.
https://www.paypal.com/my/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside&nav=1.0.4

I can help you to send via paypal if you want. I have Paypal verified premier account,
i can give you bank's buying price instead of selling price. (normally i sell to others with selling rate)
Today MBB exchange rate U$1 = Sell @ 3.75, buy @ 3.65

If seller willing to discount for you, you just pay me discounted price + U$1 service charge for mass payment.
i can help you to send money without any extra charge. ;)

Last time during Sales Tax era, as long as the imported item is meant for domestics consumption and not for trade, there would not be Sales Tax upon importation.

Now with GST, even the subject is meant for domestics consumption/own use, we got to pat GST upon importation.

For watches with value less than RM 500 incl shipping, no GST is levied.

For watches above RM500 incl shipping, 6% GST will be charged. Depending on what shipping service you use, will determine whether you kena GST or not.

Registered airmail: Maybe/ Maybe not. If kena, Pos Malaysia will ask whether you want to appoint them as agent (approx RM 70) or pay yourself at kastam office.

EMS: Sure Kena. Pos Malaysia same as above.

Courier (DHL/ Fedex etc): They will call you first then clear customs for you and you pay them incl service charges. AFAIK quite expensive i heard.
