Godzillaz:
it is very tough to get bronze here or in singapore as it is uncommon.
You might need a rather large quantity to start off.
phosphor bronze (PB1) could be much easier.
brass is common, but doesnt pass off for bronze at all due to its low copper content.
Your case manufacturer might decide to plate it with copper though.
If you do run into trouble, drop me a note. I would like to help out with the sourcing.

On another note, why not think about a copper case?
The unfortunate thing would be that it's softer and more prone to corrosion.

You'll also need to ensure that the back is stainless steel, as copper/bronze/brass might irritate some skin types.

we are all in this page because we want bronze, not brass titanium platinum or stainless steel.
Many are concerned about bronze being allergenic, most opted for ss caseback, but I think glass caseback with bronze rim won't irritate the sensitive skin.

Hi lups,

I'm not a metallurgist so would you be kind enough to state the difference between the more commonly use bronze case (CuSn8) vs phosphor bronze (PB1) you mention on your previous post?

The main concern is the natural discoloration due to oxidation to occur. AKA "patina" We would want this phenomenon to happen. Would PB1 give us the same effect?

Regards
Tyler

Won't everyone would be walking around with green wrist with copper?

It would be worse with our hot weather and sweat.

PB102 is also phosphor bronze. PB102's ISO code is CuSn5.
Rather similiar to the bronze used by Panerai for the Bronzo (CuSn8 or PB104-BS equivalent).
Difference is with the Tin content. More tin = stronger corrosion resistance. Also means higher prices since tin is expensive.

I would assume the biggest problem is with what's available in the market.
PB104 is harder to find; but of course with the right quantities, can be made.

Hell yeah.. it would give you a great patina too :)
i have some products made of PB102 that have been left out for years.
I'll snap a photo and show it to you. Just let me get rid of the dust.

As for the case back, its safer to use high grade stainless steel as terrenceterrence pointed out that we have a hot and humid weather.
The back would oxide faster and would not be pleasant to wear.
Test experiment: I'll put a piece of copper out, brush it with brine and water, and leave it aside. That'll help to decide if you want that touching your wrist :)

* my 2 cents. if i'm wrong, do help to correct me *

Am not sure if this is CuSN8 broze but the design looks stunning (my view). Wish we could have something like that one-day
