Bronze Case Watch: Special Edition for our own?
« on: April 18, 2012, 06:44:38 AM »
Any one interested in a bronze case diver style sport watch that make specially for own forum?

On a recent GTG, some one in the group that they will be interested in one.

I myself will be proud to own one. However we need to gauge the numbers of people who are keen.

May we see a show of hand who is interested on this Bronze diver watch? If the number is too low then it might not happen.

Regards
Tyler

What would be a right region. Do you have a range in mind? 10k still not in the region of bronzo

Designing and planning a project watch is no easy task.
Most will be interested in discussion stage...
During design stage, everyone have their own preference.
Dimensions, case design, hands, movement to use etc.
Once pricing is out, you will know how many are really interested.
And if the numbers do not add up, we end up spending lost time planning, designing, sourcing of cases, movements, dial and hands and etc.

Agree with bro hanz. But logically the viable bronze case would be of a diver or panerai-like. Personally I think the pricing would be in the region of RM5k. We have to bear in mind that this is a bronze watch and many will quote magrette and their low pricing but it ended up to be brass. So we have to be really realistic in this.

That's the reason for this post. If the response is position then maybe we can proceed to talk to manufacturer.

Not defending them but it was not their fault. Other micro brands were also impacted by the same supplier who promised bronze but delivered brass.

not blaming. Just setting things straight from the start. Bronze cases arent cheap. Just want to clarify that point.

We are not even close to that point yet.

If we have the finish watch or prototype then this post would be redundant.

1st we need to know how many are interested then at what price range.

When we have a glue of how many people are interested and at what price people are comfortable to pay.

Only then we come to ...
2nd: Picking the case and design.

Movement wise there ain't that many to choose from, Eta or Miyota. Inhouse movement is a no no unless we're talking a watch that cost 15k. I'm sure no one would pay for that. Regardless of how pretty the movement is.

i personally think that bronze watch should stay true to the dive watch design
super compressor case would be good, preferrably with a 22mm lug width
machine wise, for date, either a miyota 9015 or the famous eta 2824
if no date design, can consider a vostok 2416
price range... of course as low as possible  :Laughing_on_floor:

yes, forum watch project is a difficult one,
i would suggest that someone design a watch and try to get the price from the supplier
THEN post the design and price range and see who is interested
isn't that what most micro brands are doing?
and they collect deposit too...

btw, anyone knows any malaysian watch case maker?

That's not a good idea because if we just go ahead with design without knowing how many watch we're going to order and at what price then it's a massive work. Not fair to those who put in the effort. If the project don't materialise then all those effort are wasted.
