Panerai 112 owners?
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:07:54 PM »
whats it like? looks great, very simplistic.. big enough for some strap collection? anything bad about it? is kinda cheap so i dun expect the greatest movement.. but still not just pocket change...

I don't have the PAM00112 but have played with it. It is a nice watch being a base. And yes you can have a large strap collection with the PAM00112 or with any Panerai. It is powered by the ETA64XX hand wind movement, so in reality, it is not really cheap.

I would hunt a PAM 00000 instead. About the same price if not cheaper.

Much much coherent to the Brand history because of the logo.
Then maybe I would add a 210 later.

Then you are all cover. Luminor and Radiomir. Sandwich and FATs  :D

well, i have talked to many first time panerai buyers, and most of them have the tendency to want all panerai features in 1 watch.
typical ones they want are : sandwich, display back, LOTSA strap combos.

if those are what you want, then a PAM112 will fit you.

but if you don't really fancy the sandwich or display back, then you can save RM2900 (off the list price between PAM112 and PAM000) and go for the zero.

as an owner of a 112, I would recommend 000 instead. Just because it's cheaper and rarer.

Unless you "die, die" want the sandwich dial and display caseback then get a 112. There's nothing really interesting inside actually if you think abut it.

I agree. But i was the owner of the PAM176 which is the titanium version of the 112. After a while, it is not that interesting. But it is still a PAM though.

 if the clear caseback shows something like this than i would gladly "climb up sabre mountain and go through fire sea" for it  :Laughing_on_floor:

to throw in another into the fray. have you considered a 005 as well?

112 does looks bare after a while. the zero fills up the spaces well with the logo and if you want something moving..the 005 does looks handsome as well. not to mention the 005 is a more rarer beast. would save up some money for some straps.

I would prefer 112.... Because
1) sandwich dial
2) display back
3) cleaner dial
4) cheaper than 390.... ;D

Want something different and hard to get and see (unless Scott brings his), go for PAM00219. Sandwich dial and destro (left hander). If you want the sub-dial, spend a bit more (well lots more) and get the PAM00115.

Sandwhich dial is nice but I think they fit nicer to a Radiomir case. Of course that's only my opinion.

I think the dial of the Luminor Marina (small second) by itself is stretch to the max. Adding the logo would seem too crowded.

Beside you'll have plenty choice adding a small second model later. They are many variety you choose.

But the logo(PAM000) goes back to the root of the Pre Vendome era. The original PreV model of course is the best but the price is not  :(

So a PAM000 is quite nice and the price is in human figure.

PAM104. Luminor marina auto. If not 112,000,111,005 for manual. These are the more popular luminor models.

If you guys look around, you can find some bargains out there. The PAM00367 for example is not a popular se/le model (at the moment) and can be had at perhaps RM2 to 3 k over retail, which is not too bad as it is about the PAM00111 price new. The PAM00199 is also selling at about it's retail price and it is a SE model. Just not very popular. Have to look and sometimes be there at the right placec and the right time. Like I said, there was a PAM00024 that sold for RM 10k a couple of month back.

I think i will be crossing this 112 vs 000 bridge ..am enjoying all the different views here.

BTW, anyone here knows if there's difference in the intensity and longevity of the lume between the sandwich and painted markers?

The painted dials have a brighter and longer lume, but that's what I have read and don't have a painted dial PAM to verify. Only have a sandwich dial PAM, still trying to get funds to get a painted dial PAM Radiomir.
