Is this too big? Wrist testing the hulk.
« on: April 05, 2012, 07:58:57 PM »
Tell me the truth. I hesitate a lot about this watch.

It's big even at 40mm it's almost Panerai presence. The green dial and bezel seem a little trendy for me. My biggest concern is these super lug. They go way out my wrist which makes it look funny.

I'm searching for my new sub and short list this and the old 14060.

What do guys think?

Regards
T

size is ok. don't forget whenever u take a photo using that angle, it'll always look big.

SIZE (=BIG) is a very relative term and u can get used to it very quickly.
and once you go big, u will shunt the smalls.

I enjoy hulk but the problems is I enjoy others too. I don't want my house to end up like a watch shop and a huge credit card debt I need 287 years to pay off.  :P

So I need to choose. I want to wear my watch so no buy display only watches for me.

It does, doesn't it.  :)

I wonder how long the look will last though. You see trendy piece won't always be trendy. Or else they will be call "classic" and not trendy in the 1st place.  ;)

I think I need to do another round of test trial.

Actually it's the proportion I worry about. Not just size. I have 44mm watch that are just fine but a 42mm that's way out.

The thickness of the watch is another problem.

Not all watches can be used in all occasions. Consider the hulk as a watch to be worn on special occasions - that being the case, you won't have any issue of whether it too trendy for a formal event/to thick to go under your cuffs/etc.

Got to be the Hulk, I never seen Godzilla wearing anything small  :Laughing_on_floor:

hmm.. i said it looks better than the 14060, not trendy

i have seen the 16610LV and 116610LV on some wrists in person and it doesn't look trendy at all. actually, it looks really good, especially the 116610LV. the dial on the Hulk actually looks black at some angles and in certain lighting so it's not that green at all.

i disagree that it's a special occasion watch. if i got one, i would use it daily. and it's not really thick at all. i like it but i much prefer the 116613LB which is the next target. that blue is more striking that the Hulk.

I would go fo 40mm green subs,
Its on premium market and limited stock available due to high demands

Other watch some bigger than 40mm still look fine,

I notice in Dubai the ladies wearing rolex daytona nowadays, still look nice on them (of course body gold with diamond trim)

Hulk looks alright on your wrist. A lot of ladies wearing sub and even pam these days. I think it look good on them too.

Well, if you are not looking to dispose off it later, then u may consider normal sub. But i think hulk has a better chance of 'retaining value' if u wanna dispose it later provided u are happy with this unique rollie corporate colour.

The date display is actually not my concern. I worry more about the imbalance of the watch. The big case with these small thin bracelet.

Tyler

what nice is subjective....choose what is comfortable to you...like me i dont take anything below 44m....but some would not agree....subjective view...your own money, make yourself happy....that is far more important that people perception

if it was me, i'll go for the hulk....looks great especially with date. Maybe i'm biased as i only dig watches with date display.

the case and the thickness of hulk is not really an issue. I think deepsea is not balance but not hulk.

if you mean the imbalance due to the large lugs not tapering into the lugs, you will get used to it. balance on the wrist is not an issue unless you have very small wrists ( not likely eh!! ) as the Sub clasp is much longer.

True that the dial is not very green and as mentioned looks black at certain angles. At its greenest point, still an acceptable shade of green. On my radar :Dancing_banana:

"get used to it" That's one of the reason I am still holding back. I figure if I'm forking out 28k for something to pamper myself. I shouldn't have to "get used" to the shortcomings in order to enjoy it fully. Maybe Rolex will have a bigger size bracelet in the future.

Though might be too late to get the hulk but I can then get the SDDS instead.

You see my dilemma?
