Best Country Watch Boutique??
« on: March 15, 2012, 12:47:17 PM »
Just wondering,  where is the best country to shop for watches(boutique) from? I used to hear that Hong Kong was the best place to go but due to the number of rich millionaires(and billionaires!) from China buying at any price, it seems that it is no longer the place to shop(in fact a few people specifically told me NOT to shop there unless you enjoy paying premium pricing). In my experience while  in USA, I found that retail prices in USA is about 20% cheaper than retail prices in Asia. Most people in Indonesia used to buy watches in Singapore but now I found that prices are almost the same as Singaporean prices with less than 5%-10% difference. This means that Indonesian boutiques are slowly getting more competitively priced. So where is the best boutique pricing according to your experience?

I have looked at prices in Germany and France and it doesn't seem to be cheap at all. is Geneva priced differently than those countries?

I think depend on the brand, this topic have been discussed before, some actually cheaper to buy in Malaysia, of course with hardcore nego. Which brand you are aiming?

nop. all depends on the brand you want. at geneva or swiss, nothing is cheap. but the customer service is superp. no matter how u wear or u have the intention to buy o not, they serve u from grd floor to 1st floor, bringing a tray n keep showing watches as your requirement. you hardly find this service in asia except japan.

as for brand, certain brand is cheap is certain country. so all depends wat you are looking.

Eventually, it boils down to individual brand, discount, currency and availability actually.

I actually bought a rollie in Tokyo few years back cos its cheaper than KL and have abundant of choices. I also bought Pam in Geneva before because of no stock elsewhere. I also buy in HK due to lower currency. Not to mention buying in KL due to higher discount.
I am broke but I am happy...
