PAM Zero vs TUDOR Heritage
« on: February 29, 2012, 03:18:02 PM »
Let go my pre-owned Rolex...
Now itching for new ones...
Just thinking out loud, which one between these two:
1. Brand new Pam 000

2. Brand new Tudor Heritage

What say you?

In my opinion, PAM. Eventhough I owned the Tudor before, I think it would be great to buy it outright instead of letting go rollies to obtain it. But still, it is a case of handwind vs auto and chrono vs no-complication

Two very different watches. One is hand wind, the other is automatic. One is basic three hand (at it's best) and the other a Chrono, great heritage and nice redoing by Tudor. One is hot, the other, hot, cold, but now hot again (according to some) because of the MI movie. Which one sings to you? What the does the heart say? I have both and I like both.

Given a choice, I would go Tudor (but that is if I don't intend to sell it in the near future). In the long term (to me anyway) the selling price does not matter as you would have already enjoy the watch, and that is worth more than the selling price.

Not a fan of PAM, I would go for the Tudor Heritage Chrono... intend to in the future... funds not enough yet... hehehe

I believe the Tudor is cheaper than the Panerai. Well that was the situation when I got both of them.

Prices have indeed change. The Tudor has gone up in price.

i never feel Tudor is worth the asking price when new. it's still ETA inside. maybe a nice pre-owned is better since you seem to be a flipper.

So is a Pam. Although I own one too... I never feel that the price is justified for all that they are offering.

You've owned a 114 (or was it 113?) so it's nothing different from a 000.

Now that Pam is ramping up the production numbers, both watches would take hits if bought new should u decide to flip it later down the road.

I want to quit being a flipper, that is why I am going for a brand new one.
If I am not mistaken, Tudor Heritage is using its own in-house movement.

No.

It's a ETA2892 + DD2054 chrono module riding piggyback.

I believe all Tudors as far as it's inception uses non in-house calibres. It's Rolex' "ready to wear" line in the terms off haute couture

The closest Tudor got to an in-house movement was the Tudor Caliber 390 which was based on the Fleurier calibre 350. Fleurier made the movement under Rolex specifications. The movement then received additional modifications by Rolex. Rolex added the rotor mechanism. The movement was then 'gifted' to Tudor.

The Caliber 390 was fitted into early tudor Submariners, reference 7922, 7924 and 7928.

ahh, another good discussion.

i liked both the tudor heritage and pam logo.
the tudor bugged me so much i drove down to hour glass to try it on.
it was readily available back then, and even came with a good discount.

but the moment i put it on my wrist, *no feel*.

i guess that's the most important factor. - *feel*

feel and wrist presence is utmost important to me.
the watch may look AWESOME in photos, but that may just be due to a good photographer.

when you put both watches on you wrist, there will always be a clear winner.

good luck!

Yes, both are ETA movements.
I am leaning towards the poor man's Daytona. Good discount and MI sucker.....

Like you I have taken an interest in the Tudor Chronograph models. They are not that expensive in the pre-loved market, more so the ones with the hour bezel. The Units per Hour bezel seems more expensive. Not sure about the 'Tiger' dial......

I am liking this one. Useful (to me) hour bezel as can use to tell second time zone.

The Units per Hour bezel. Since I no longer need to time thing....

Not careful, I might see the Tudor collection grow...  :HammerHead:
