watch insurance
« on: February 17, 2012, 01:15:02 PM »
Hi all MWF sifus,

Not sure whether this topic has been discussed before anot.

I'm just wondering, since our 'love' (watches) is soooo expensive which can easily cost us a car or to some, mabbe a house. Is there any insurance that can cover/protect our 'love'? or is it once lost consider gone??

any input will be appreciated. thx :)

You can insure it under your householder (content) insurance but need to declare if it cost more the 5% of the total sum insured

not as i know that insurance company in malaysia dont have such package. but as chin mentioned, the only way is you declared under house insurance, jewellery catogary which you need to declare and top up with a bit of extra money on the policy. but if not mistaken is insure up to rm100k only. so if you have a pp at home then too bad.... :Laughing_on_floor:

I suppose that is y safe deposit box is an option 2 some...but downside is inflexibility if you want 2 wear the watch often.

This is a standard terms by most insurers. Suggest you shop around via internet - this way is much better than approaching an agent - otherwise, you contact details could be passed around

I insured my watches under MSIG Insurance together with the home contents. For watches. quote make / model and serial no. etc.

Part of it under world wide coverage. ie personnal effects and cash etc...(loss / stolen / robbery to support by police report at respective countries)

Hope the above helps.

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

is it worth the additional costs to insurance to include watches in a policy? add the fact that some of us flip and then we have to keep updating the contents in the policy, won't that be a lot of hassle?

my opinion is we should only spend on watches what we can afford to lose or break, else the anxiety factor is there and reduces the enjoyment of wearing the timepiece.

I insure my 5 watches without describing the brands in my insurance policy with MSIG. However, you need to put a limit ie. value in RM of each watch.
