hi, ive got some scratches and minor dings on my stainless steel watch...how to polish them off?send it back to AD?or any jewellery shop can do the job?

depending in the type of finish on your watch, if its brushed, use very fine grid sand paper (always experiment first)
if its polished then use stainless steel polishing liquid
but if you are not confident enough, just send it to the watchmaker...
any jewellery shop will tell you they can do the job... they'll just send it back to the AD and charge you a higher price.

On the other hand, what do you all use to polish acrylic crystals? can i use car scratch remover to polish?

Toothpaste doesn't remove deep scratches.... Anyone knows where I can get acrylic polish in malaysia? Or will car scratch remover work the same?

Next option poly watch. Check out Bangsar village. There is a prelove shop that carries it.

dont fix it! scrathes and dings give the watch character lah!!!

Go to any Suunto watch shop, they have the acrylic polish sold in tubes (common problem since practically all their watches uses acrylic crystals).

That really depends on the shop. My friend sent his tag for service, took them about 2 weeks and they didn't do a good job, noted a spec of grime on the dial after the service.

No suunto shop in sandakan. Nevermind, I guess I'll just try the car scratch remover and let you guys know instead.

my SS 112 jus had a very light kiss wit the edge of the table.. and collected sum scratches with a tiny nick ..
ordered .. cape cod polishing cloth from the states.. and still waiting..
heard is highly recommended by paneristi.com

bro, cape cod polishing cloth works on minor scratches. i used it before.

why take away part of a watch you probably love ? Keep your love in her condition and let her get patina. just get one more that is polished if thats what you want

polishing will also reduce the resale value like hell if its anything expensive. Oil changes and if a donor part is needed that's oki. But for me I always want the watch to be as much original as I can

i have got some very positive result using car scratch remover from TurtleWax for minor scratches. I have used it on my almost all my electronics e.g. handphones, notebook and watches of course. Easy to use and protect paints (if any)

I picked up,a random car scratch remover and tried it on my acrylic crystal, worked like a charm! Removed some rather nasty scratches.

So WISs, car scratch remover works!

Can anyone confirm using such easily obtained (and cheap) products will not harm the acrylic crystal in the long run? I read somewhere that the chemical property of acrylic crystal is unique and that once polished, there must be another chemical available to rebond the molecules otherwise it would weaken the crystals. That is why special acrylic crystal polish is expensive.

You mean the liquid that is safe to be used on posh car paints will not be good enough for watches?

anyway, if I'm so bothered with pampering the crystal, I'd get a sapphire crystal instead.

i dont think this a sapphire crystal, its pretty slim , its GUESS watch , the scratch is pretty annoying since its in an obvious spot

, so will the "car scratch remover " do the job ?

Apparently i got scratch on my watch surface also and it's sapphire crystal
would appreciate any sifu can advice is there a way to polish it off?

there's one polishing cloth very good for polished surfaces watches. Cannot remember the name but can be searched from mr google!
