Green Tag
« on: January 16, 2012, 05:28:10 PM »
Hi Rolex Lovers,

I was just wondering why in Italy(in particular), when purchasing a Rolex watch from their boutique, they will retain the green tag?
From most of the photos I see in the sales section, green tag is like part of the package....but in Italy they refuse...i mean refuse to give the green tag to their customers. Anyway how important is the green tag when resale is concern? ???

Regards
PS

The tag is only important if it is important to you. To most collectors it is not a deal breaker. Some AD keep the tag because (not all) it has the stock code to allow the to reconcile what they have and what they sold.

I am sure if you tell the shop that if they don't give you the tag, you will not buy the watch, they will give you the green tag, again if it is important to you.

To me, what is more important is did you get the watch that goes with the tag.  :Laughing_on_floor:

As for being a collectors item, I believe the older ones with 'Oyster Swimpruf' are the ones.

Someone told me when buying preowned watches, the 3 essential elements are 1. Condition of watch 2. Papers or certificate 3. Original box.
As explained by the seniors, I think the green tag gives us a 'feel good' feeling that the owner of the watch takes care of it. I am told that in the preowned market, watches complete with these 3 items fetch better value. I notice that in the 'for sale' section, they are some seniors regularly sell watches complete with these items.
To me, the cert is a must cos that will eliminate the chances of it being a stolen item. Of course there are exception to the norm like rolex pepsi or coke where it is so difficult to get one with certificate, hence collectors just pick up from the market if they cant wait.

I know of a dealer at amcorp who has a beautiful pepsi with cert and it is price higher than daytona. But this is for another thread.

I notice the old rolex came with a beautiful velvety pouch which is handy when we travel.

They are so many accessories with rolex, including passport holder, golf divet etc.

Thank you.

Maybe its just me but I just can't get myself to wear a fake....doesn't have the shiok feeling. I would rather wear a Seiko/Casio/Swatch than wearing a fake. Anyway.......
