Panerai Fever-Straps talk!
« on: December 14, 2011, 10:56:53 AM »
It's getting hotter in the what is on your wrist today?
Let's spread some smelling good leather virus here. ;D ;D
My current favorites!

Not a big fan of Croco strap.Only have an OEM dark brown Alligator strap in hand for formal wear.
A bit disappointed with Dirk buckle,it's a bit too thin and light.But after all,the Italian hide from Tuscana is soft and the color is stunning!

Particularly like this cracked OEM Strap,It's extremely soft and comfy to wear.

Vintage Swiss Ammo from Ted Su.

I guess I need a light tan French Ammo. ;)

Enjoy mate!
 :Cheers:

Nice hornback. Fyi, Ted Su shares the same tannery with Hermes and Prada.
Simona have some unique color alligator straps too.

wow nice guys. i really have got no strength to take photos of my boxes. but maybe i will try it sometime later today/tomorrow.

but i reckon the following still -

vintage italian - go for dirk, mario paci,original kodiak
gator - simona
ammo - kevin,paolo,tedsu
OEM - go for the assolumente, and the new improved vintage cracked leather for 368,372 etc
shark - dirk,mario paci

i didn't mention wotancraft because i only had 1 from him and didn't really like his work. but his new collection looks awesome but a bit more pricey.
i will try to share my straps later on.

ok! i've decided to take sometime and do a photo session. unfortunately i only used my lousy htc phone, so it doesn't really do any justice to the straps.

let me introduce to u my fav straps in box 1!

<sharks>
MP 201a shark and dirk olive on PAM390. i understand these are all from the original ciampi factory.

<italian leather>
MPSE Olterra (superb texture, see in life to appreciate), MP 4 (very versatile and comfy), MP struzzo
Original Kodiak tantalum with PVD, dirk dark cognac on PVD (the best pvd buckle i've seen)

<gators>
all from my favorite lady strapmaker simona :)

<PAV leather>
dirk pav91 on pvd, MP pav98

<Pre-V and MX buckles>
both on dirk cognac, but on very different buckles. one is the current MX OEM and one is a preV copy.

<OEM straps>
my fav OEMs are assolutamente, cashmere, nylon and cracked vintage.

<AMMOS!>
the best part of panerais, to me is about the ammo straps. basically all made from war time ammunition bags. some of them still smell of gunpowder.
1 kevin tan, the rest are french ammos and painted french from paolo.

Curious to know guys, when did all this PAM+Strap fever started?

How did it start?

Its amazing how a relatively small community of strap makers before suddenly have such a big market and group of people joining.
