Franck muller malfunction
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:26:57 PM »
Hi guys,

Can anyone pls help advise.

My wife's franck muller, winding watch stopped functioning.

She tried to wind the watch today (as usual) after a few days to keep the movement going but felt resistance from the winding knob.

The watch is bought in 2009 and seldom worn.

Appreciate advise pls.

Cheers

Do you really need to ask this question here? ???

If your car breaks down to u post it in the web asking for advice or do u go straight to the workshop?

Go to [AD name removed-Mod] or back to wherever you bought the watch from

Yes, strongly agree with Terrence. If I were you, I surely go to the AD where I bought it and Fish them upside down....

I guess he is just trying to ask for some other advices (beside making a trip down to the AD) from the watch community before making the final judgement.

There's always options to get anything solved. :)

You can always feel a resistance when you have fully wound your watch. Do not try to force it further as it will damage both the mainspring and component in the escapement

Did your wife overwind it before that?

Can the watch still be wind?

Can you explain more in details what you meant by 'stopped functioning'?

Hi bergkamp10,

Thanks for your reply / understanding.

Yes, could not wind the watch now as there is like a resistance. So did not proceed further.

She said she did not overwind it last.

I just want to know if this is common problem for winding watches. The warranty from sincere singapore for fm is just 1 year and the watch is now 2 year old. Any repairs which is going to be costly we have to bear.

My own Rolex submariner is now sitting in jw horological for servicing but thats understandable cause it's a 15 year old piece.

Appreciate your comments

Cheers

Just kidding, I don't think frank muller is that fragile.... May be is the AD personnel drop it or something before they sell to the customer......

Why not? Sincere is the authorized AD and service centre in SEA.

All of us can just speculate as to what is happening to your watch. The best one to give u advice are the experts.

Not sure about FM but most watches offer a minimum of 2 years warranty now except Omega co-axial with their 5 years. Like I said call Sincere and ask they are the expert.

Ya, you should just leave it as it is now before making it more worse or damaging any expensive component inside.

I believe this problem might happen to any watch. As a watch movement is very complicated, any small little things will cause problem in a watch.

Even a small particle of dust can make your watch stop working. Dust can enter a watch if the crown is not intact.

Maybe you can head back to JW watch repair (when you collect your Rolex) to seek advice before making any decision (maybe it just a small problem) since they are the real "experts' and from what I know they are reputable and their price is reasonable. ;)

I will call both sincere s'pore and jw horological.

Look forward to see what is sinceres response to this kinda of case. Watch is seldom worn as it's a dress watch. Even though it's 2 years it's like new.

Would not be pleased if sincere insists to charge for this.

Thanks u guys for inputs.
