Apples and oranges. Two different kinds altogether. One is a Radiomir and the other is a Luminor. But if I were in your position, i'd go with the 111. The PAM is famous for the crown guard.

Octo, I too am partial to PAM111.

Best thing to do is try them both on and see which one sings to you.

Good luck  8)

First, you need to determine whether you like a Luminor Case (111) or a Radiomir Case
Then you need to determine whether you like the Logo (380) or not (111) and whether this wil influence the first decision above
Then you need to factor in practicality. If you are with suit & tie most of the time, then a Rad would be a better choice. Its "dressier"...having said that, I wear my Luminors with suit anywayz..
Another facyor to consider (everything being equal as in the latest production) is painted dial (380) vs Sandwiched dial (111)

Good luck in the hunt and show us the WS once you get it!

The SA at d AD said wait list for 380 is about 6mths n 111 is only ard 2-3mths. Also recomend as a newbie to PAM, shud start off w a base model.
But I do not hear or read any good review on this watch yet. ???

Wow that is a long wait for the PAM00380. Try the boutiques. I think the lead time is shorter. My friend got his under a month.

Hi octo.

I've been through the same thing last few weeks. Finally decided to go with the 111. simply because the PAM 111’s versatility is probably second to none in the Panerai line-up. To me that is. Besides having limited fulus  :HammerHead:  Having said that, the 380 is also a beauty in its own way, with a radiomir case and a logo as well. Giving the logo lovers to have them both with luminor and radiomir. Hopefully solving the problems with cuffs thinggy to some.

I think Zameen's advice should help narrow down the decision. Unless you want to take into consideration the 112,000,005,210 or even the 312 to start with (in-house movt). Try them all first and see which one makes you smile longer...

Have to say that the past few days have been very interesting in terms of Panerai watches. I had the opportunity to look and play with a number of Panerai and have to say that I agree with Scott C and zameenzahari. I looked at the following models and the zero is nice, very nice indeed.

Models looked at:

PAM00000
PAM00005
PAM00380
PAM00112
PAM00176

In saying that, I do like the PAM00380 as well. The painted dial on a Radiomir looks just right (to me anyway).

That is why after acquiring 111, still cant stop thinking of the 000 & 112 for the clean looks + logo

Its not a good hobby..  :HammerHead: to indulge into... BEWARE !!!  :police:

Take a pick :D
It's entirely 2 different watch which i suppose it's very hard to compare.
Painted dial vs sandwich dial, solid case back vs see tru case back, Logo vs no logo, Radiomir vs Luminor, 45mm vs 44mm etc etc.
and different in term on price tag.
Hope this will help rather than add more confusion.

cheers,
ck

I was at an AD today and tried a Radiomir. I must say that it was love at first sight. I was never a big fan of Panerai before - i don't like the crown guard as well as the price.  However, the price of the 380 is not too impossible (I was told by the SA that it is the cheapest PAM I can get - dunno whether that is actually true).

Anyways, I am seriously considering to flip my U1 and maybe my Damasko to partly fund this watch. Or maybe I'll keep the Damasko :HammerHead:

Pam 176 is made from titanium case while 111 polished. Some people like the looks of titanium which some claims can hide the scratches easily cmpared to polished case ( no personal experience on this, Only have polished one).

As for me I went for this one and no regrets at all.

brushed titanium does hide hairline scratches very well as opposed to the polished steel. My old PAM176 looks like new right up to the time i sold it whereas my current PAM90 has multiple hairline scratches on it.
