Ok, I just received my T-Serial Rolex Submariner 14060...
Now the bracelet and clasp is different from my ExpII as it features non-solid end links and a diver extension clasp which makes it longer.

I just need to confirm if the clasp is suppose to be like this...
I will try and illustrate with a series of picture and I hope you guys get where I'm at...


Picture 1.
Here you can see clearly the diver extension have been opened...
The diver's extension consists of 2 thin metal sheets.
One end connected to the clasp with micro adjustments and another part connected to the bracelet.


Picture 2.
To close the diver's extension, the top part of the extension in the pics (connected to the clasp from Picture 1) will be pushed back into the clasp and it closed with a "Click", I suppose no problems there...


Picture 3.
Now when I close the 2nd part of the divers extension (connected to the bracelet from Picture 1), there is no "Click"!!
It's free moving with no resistance whatsoever...


Picture 4.
As you can see, all the diver's extension and bracelet will fit nicely inside the clasp.



Picture 5 and 6.
Now with the clasp all fastened and you see the bracelet clasp seems to fall from it's place.
So when I'm wearing the watch abit on the loose side, you can see the bracelet clasp hanging from the bracelet itself... I reckon if the 2nd diver's extension where to close with a click, this problem will not arise.

Due to the fact that this is my 1st Submariner, I have no idea if the bracelet and clasp is faulty or is it suppose to be like this?

Bro, you almost gave me a heart attack when I read your 1st sentence...

You mean this is normal? The 2nd part of the extension clasp is not suppose to close with a "click" like the 1st part?

yeah, it's normal...this is the old rolex style bracelet...that's why a lot ppl complaint it look cheap :(

you can use the tools to push the end of the claps inward (both site) a bit so that when you fold the bucket, it will hold it better...

the older series are like that..dont worry. I was also just educated on the matter last week. From what i gathered, yours is a 2 line sub. Those are older than the newer 4 line sub. I guess the previous owner must be a frequent diver.

i don't know about you guys but that clasp hanging in mid-air like that just doesn't look right. i certainly don't think that's how it should be. but i don't a clasp like that so i can't say for certain.

I don't feel right as well but if Rolex regulars said it is like that, then I would have to accept it.... although disappointed...
I currently have all the removable links removed... that's the maximum as the other 2 links that can be removed are the endlinks...
I am thinking might as well:

1. Wear it on Nato.
2. Source for a better condition OEM Clasp.
3. Wear it with my ExpII Bracelet (I am guessing it will fit)

My sourcing on the bay comes up with NOS bracelet and clasp at an amazing 3k+!!!
I will keep hunting though...

send this to a watchmaker..they should know how to fix it..

the buckle end where losen up... just squeeze/twist it inward both size a bit.... that way, when u buckle it up, it will not that lose... i got mine fixed last time...

PM CK77 and Jacky8888, they both have the same model and they both are like that.
Nothing to be alarmed about.

Oh and get a SD next time so you wont have this problem :Laughing_on_floor:

bro hanz, i agreed with bro Scott recommendation. Mine is 1999 submariner which have similar clasp and double thin plate for the diver extension just like yours. when the thin plate go into the crasp, there is some minor touching friction which able to hold the bracelet.

Personally, i think there is no point to go for a NOS bracelet as it is the same bracelet as your current one. Might as well buy the ones on the newer version with solid end links. After looking at all your posts, i realised that the watch is 15 years old so the bracelet in that condition is acceptable. By the way, can pm me how much you bought the watch and where you bought it from? Thanks.

u almost got everyone heart attack when 1st 2 sentence. bt by viewing the photo it is normal n nothing to be worry about. if you still worry then juz bring to rolex AD to verify for a peace of mind  :Laughing_on_floor:

Well, can consider this case closed la...
Just now I head to my local Rolex AD...
The uncle there was friendly and totally different from what the locals here described him as.
He took a look at the 14060... opened it up, everything was fine... I asked about the bracelet, he said that it's normal. Needs some servicing and buffing and it will be ok.
He even showed me his workroom with plenty of tools and knick knacks... did not take a single picture as it was my 1st time in the room.

There was another problem with the watch however... it's the bezel...
It is jammed... Cannot turn anymore... stuck... whatever it's called.
Pretty disappointed when I found out as the seller was full of credible references.
Still corresponding with the seller via e-mail and let's just see where it goes...

Then I asked him if he can open up my ExpII to check wether it was a 3186 with parachrom bleu hairspring or an older 3185 movement and he was cool with it...
Opened it up and voila... it's a 3186...  :thumbsup:
He wrote down the movement number on a card and asked me to keep it...

It seems that he is the Authorized Rolex Service watch technician...
So, since it was a nice 1st meeting, I passed my Rolex 14060 to him for a full service... hey, it's a 15 year old watch and god knows when it was last serviced... mind as well just service it and be worry free for the next five years yeah?

So, regarting the bracelet... I think we can all lay this matter to rest... :Cheers:

I see what you mean now, the clasp is like longka, not attach. I also tak boleh tahan if my watches bracelet like that. For me, I will definitely either fix it or change to other straps. It aint perfect

he open up your watches and they weren't pressure tested after that??

and how much is it going to cost to service the 14060 ??

For the ExpII, I don't think pressure testing is necessary as it is water resistant to 100m.
For the Submariner however, the full overhaul will be done.
And according to the receipt he gave me.
Work done include:

1. Complete Overhaul.
2. Crystal gasket
3. Caseback gasket
4. Crown gasket.
5. Waterproof test.
6. Oiling and lubrication.
7. Steam clean and polish.
8. Bezel Repair
9. Bracelet Overhaul

He quoted me rm1800.
Appropriately priced? I have no idea... and I also have no choice as I he is the only certified rolex service centre in KK.
If I am in KL, different story la, just head to Menara Dion... not me bro... not me...
