Hello from Beijing
« on: September 28, 2011, 03:16:11 PM »
Hi all,
Was introduced by a friend to camp at this site.
It's truly enlightening!
Initially have no clue about watches at all, then slowly but surely, I'm learning more and more each day.
Yes, I'm Malaysian but currently working in Beijing. I don't even look at watches here, the price is thru' the roof, with their hefty import tax and all.
Initially interested in Omega but too many mainland cina are wearing them, decide to go for an entry level IWC in HK.
Next target? PAM! :)
Say in 3 or 4 years time, can't be buying watch every year now, can we?

I spend an entire month in Beijing on my last trip there. That was during my off work session.

Beijing is a very safe city. My shopping time spent is around the wangfujin area. Not many of watch shop though. There is one big store selling mostly local brand...no?.

Welcome to MWF.

dc.
I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

Buying a watch annually? No... Poison begone!
Yeah Chris, if you are ever in the neighborhood, I'm at Wangfujing area, happy to buy you a drink at me workplace :) I work in a hotel.
David, you are right that Beijing and Shanghai is a very safe city, I feel 10 time safer in these 2 cities than in KL.
They got quite a few watch shop on the WFJ (Wangfujing) stretch, unfortunately you should not buy them there, the prices are easily 20% more than Msia.
I think I'm gonna enjoy my stay here at MWF :)

DC, you should have go to "Siew Shui" or "Tien Yi", got a lot of brand there, mostly replica  :Laughing_on_floor: Most of the branded watches shop are along the Jian Guo Men....But they will look at you one kind if you walk in like "Ah Beng" look

Welcome to this forum Gr8One, enjoy your stay here,  next time go to Beijing will buzz you for Chinese tea  ;D

My first pic post.
This is the best I can do using an Ipad and artificial light in my office.
Many thanks to Scott for guiding me how to upload pics.

I just realized I said my next purchase is 3 to 4 years from last year.
All right, I caved... Got myself another baby last month.
