Woke up at 4am this morning to a loud bang....
The plastic roofing on my entertainment room collapsed!!
Half the room flooded.
Laminated flooring all wet. (have to be replaced)
Water seeped down to my master bedroom bath.
Plaster ceiling all wet (need to be replaced)
Bar counter and booze all wet.
What luck man... there goes my watch funding!!!

Thank god my entertainment electronics was on the other side of the room.
The part of the room that is flooded is only for the bar counter and a small fridge for drinks.

Land below the wind? It is but unfortunately my house was on a small hill, guess i "caught" the wind...
My neighbors aren't doing too good either, some tress fell... traffic jam the whole morning as all traffic lights was Out of Order.
Billboards collapsed... Advertising banners flown away torn... Flag poles fell...
The last time I felt this kind of wind was during the Greg Typhoon which hit Sabah hard... back in December 1996.

The laminated floorings are giving me the most headache... nice to look at, nice to walk on... but weakness is water...
And since the room is half flooded, I guess most of the floorings will need to be replaced...

Another part of the ceiling that did not collapse on my balcony... wind blew it off and the hole is just nice for the workers to climb up to fix the collapsed part.


There's goes all my moolah.... feel like crying but no tears....

I must say the design of the house is partly to blame.
I don't know why they left a gaping hole in the 3rd floor room... how am I suppose to cover it I was thinking?
So I look at my neighbors... some were using zink (ugly)... some were using skylight... i dunno if the term is correct but thats what we call these type of roofings here...
Pretty cool... keep the heat but let some natural lighting in...

Just did some survey around my housing area... 6 houses with the same roofing disappeared... most of them got theirs torn off and ended up by the roadside... mine collapsed... damage is the same though... all got flooded in the house....

My sympathy to you, Bro Hanz.
It is even worst than my encounter years ago when a section of the roof of my house was blown off in PJ. PJ was suffering from a few "mini whirl wind" at that time)

Natural disaster happen, so nothing much can do. As long as no one got injure, that is a bless. Sorry to hear that too, but look at the bright site, yr watches and liquors are still intact, Bless++

I feel for you. When I first got to Taiwan, I was told by the landlord that the house I was renting was typhoon proof. The first typhoon hit and the whole upstairs leaked. Basically water was pouring into the house. The owner had to come to the house in the typhoon to see and the next day had to repair the house.

Anyway I believe you got hit by Typhoon Nesat.

Typhoon Nesat... yes I believe that is what I heard over at the local radio station on my way to work...
We can't live without water but water can cause so much damage... Especially to the ceiling and flooring...
All these damage costs money to repair...

Fortunately all my watches are kept in the ground floor... so all is good...
Kids were abit shocked by the loud noise and flooding but they seem alright now.

And I heard the strong winds will continue for at least another 2 days... stronger than this or not i dunno...
Just hope it's not as bad...

The roof managed to get repaired in a day... not bad at all...
Now with extra reinforcement steels bars across... guess it will hold up better...
As for the different color, after exposure to sunlight... the blue will get bleached to a light grey...



Time to get the laminated floors dried and survey the water damage... sigh...

Typhoon Nesat is the cause...

To expect more of such storms towards monsoon season.
The environment have changed. I remembered last year, the particular stretch of road that I always used to traveled to work registered 25 degrees on my car's display. Nowadays, it hardly go below 28 degrees. Same time, same speed.
A couple of degrees different meant a lot.

Let's keep the environment as green as possible..

The world is indeed getting hotter, weather more erratic...
And this is all just the beginning...
I remember during my childhood... going out to play during the afternoons wasn't that hot...
Now? It's so hot that I don't even wanna leave the comfort of my air conditioned office sometimes...
What will it be in another 10-20 years?

If it makes you feel any better, I've moved 2 times here since July 2010, 1 house no more in existence (collapsed after i moved out and caught fire right after the big incident here i.e. quake, it can be found on youtube), the second, all apartments around my building is red or yellow carded so i don't feel safe and now in my 3rd temp dwelling and may need to move again next year.

Hope things better where you at mate

Wow... now that is far worse that what I am encountering at the moment.
No, I don't feel any better hearing other peoples' bad luck... I do feel bad for you.
Anyway, after the 1st day repairs... now the repairs are moving at a snails pace...
