I am a fan of Maurice Lacroix watches.
In fact, my 1st serious piece of mechanical watch was a Maurice Lacroix Pontos Rectangulaire Chronograph.
It has gone to a good home and if you do a search, I have a review posted up.
And like Omnipotent said, post some pics and let the opinions roll...
Welcome bro...

Yes, pls post some for us to view & then comment.
Personally, I don't really bother about the brand.  I choose what I like & enjoy the nice feeling of wearing something nice.
BTW, welcome to the forum.
Take care, Ciao!

ML is gd watch... Top quality!

Just that they r not really aiming US n Euro
so major watch forums mostly base in these 2 continent not discuss about ML simply bcoz ML is not popular there!

I think Maurice Lacroix watches are well made
watches. Their designs are quite elegant
and aesthetically appealing. They do modifications
from the ETA ebauches that they acquire, that
at least earns them some respect as watchmakers
rather than just "out of the box"  ETAs. I believe
that the Company has even produced its own
in-house movement already, now, respect grows
even further ;)

Overall, a really good, respectable watch brand
from an independent company

owned a few..let go one. In my opinion, it is a fine watch. Meticulously built, reliable movement, solid. ML less of a following mainly due to the fact it is a brand which focuses mainly on dress watches. Most forums I see are mainly on sport or diver watches. Maybe thats why it is less discussed on. Anyway, would like to see the ML that you get as a present.

why not keep the watch and buy another one? To be honest, ML has a fairly low second hand value. The rough second hand value is 40% from the original retail price. That is a 60% total loss. So it is better to keep it then to sell it.

i just felt too sayang to keep it instead letting go to someone who can really appreciate

just, too precious to wear it  :-*

Like Gmac mentioned, the resale value for ML is pretty low. IMHO its bcos the watch is priced to the luxury range, not in material value. Similar watches like Epos, Edox etc...being an ETA-evolved watch, the high prices of it does not commensurate the value it's trying to perceived. Not unless they come out with their own movement, that's another perception all over again.

And then again, there are folks who appreciates fine art, and would not mind what's the movement it encases.

Wear the watch, its valueless by just sitting in the box. Wear them and be seen in them. The admiration and sense of feel good are the "returns" of your investment or rather value of it.

I hv a ML Pontos Chronograph with Valjoux 7750 movement. Its a very good watch,no complaints.IMHO ML is underappreciated-it is well designed ,has excellent build quality at a reasonable price point. I think what it lacks is a clear USP like Ball ( tritium tubes for night visibility , shock proof , etc ) or Tissot (entry level Swiss ).

ball is and ML is different market.... ball = RR watch, accuracy under extreme condition + readability... its a tough watch so tritium is the key selling point

while ML is mainly classic dress watch design.... tritium tube wont match their watch design....
none of the ML sport watch selling well....

what do u mean by in house? to me

this is the so call full in house movement.... the handwind chrono

all the auto chrono still using eta7750 base... not even modification i guess.... but not sure what grade!

this is the so far most complicated in house in ML, chrono with memory

all these retrograde handwind ML watches is using eta unitas 6497/8 with add on retrograde module....
since 2 yrs ago it ML redesign the 3/4 plate instead of

just polishing old unitas bridges, bigger jewel, perlage base plate, added regulator....

these skeletons is still stand eta 6497-1 with skeleton done by others maybe?

this handwind ML last time used Peseux 7046, but after no longer in production, ML using eta 2801 instead....
but its much better finishing than the standard eta 2801, blued screws, gold chaton....

these r also eta with standard module.... many other watch brand using same movement...

this is latest creative module from ML....

Wow... thanks to your photo, baru I tau Masterpiece Squelette is 6497 based...
I tot it was manufacture movement...  :HammerHead:
The handwind chrono is pretty cool but I prefer the skeletonised version.
The Memoire 1 is breathtaking... a mechanical chronograph with memory function... and of course a 7 digit retail price.
The Roue Carree is also cool...

As for ML design... I guess last time they were not very impressive but currently, their designs have a certain modern look to it... and there's a little distinct look of ML...
Can't pinpoint exactly what but look at all the new collections at one go and there's some similarity...

..the chrono with memory inhouse movement is artistically complicated..

I guess as sizes of watches have started to grow back to the era of pocket watches (45-50mm), it frees the designers and engineers with many possibility to create master pieces movements such as this.

I can just sit for hours just to admire the movements and figuring how it cogs with each others and the geniuses' brains behind them... wow...nice..

I was 'poisoned' by my usual watch shop guy that ML watches have relatively superior and meticulous finishings compared to watches within it's price range...but since their name is still quite new to the market, other brands can command a better price because they're more established.

is that true? i'm very new to watches and trying to develop an eye for details...cheers

ML is not a new brand. Other brands command a better price not because they are more established but because they are more prestigious or they use more precious metals either on the case or movement. As to the superior finishing, that is up to the individual to decide. They do look more refined in terms of styling.
