I bought a ML wrist alarm way back in 2002. Price was about RM 5,500 at that time.  Wore it for a few months and kept in my safe. It's a good watch although the ringing of the mechanical alarm is not as "melodious" as the JLC (price was about RM 12,500 at that time).

Newbie here. I'm currently planning to get a mechanical skeleton watch and i came across this Maurica Lacroix "MASTERPIECE SQUELETTE NEW DESIGN" that costs RM21,300.00 [mod : pls do not discuss discount]

Is this watch worth to buy?

Hope to hear some opinions from experienced watch enthusiasts. Appreciate any +ve or -ve comments.

I would say nope.  very likely you will regret not far into the future, especially after you learn more about watches from various forum.

I'll say why not? If the watch sings to u n causes sleepless nite, go fot it. Someone does mentioned 'if u buy a watch n thinking of resale value, its like getting married with divorce in ur mind ' (smth like that). Imho, if u cant afford the depreciation value, buy only rolex.

Btw, i got the ML MP7048 (older model of squellete) with handcrafted silver dial and its still look stunning after all the yrs. Esp when look under a scope. Sorry no pics as i dun know how shoot pics properly nor post pics in forum.

IMO Maurice Lacroix makes the best skeletons in its range. Like what bro WHEELQ said, if the watch sings to you and causes sleepless nights, go for it.

Anyway, I believe bro el118 is talking about the keeping value instead of the resell value. Quite similar but different things. Make sure you wont regret the decision you make!

It not only about resale value. you would likely get tired of the watch pretty soon if you find out what you have is not perceived highly by others. (some may argue that watch to satisfy only oneself, one need not care for what others think. This may be true. but if that is the case, than he would not have asked a question on the forum).

buying expensive watch is for "status or perceived value" and "shiok sendiri". without the former, you would likely find that your "orgasm" may not last too long.  ;)

Just my opinion anyway.

You know, Eric is definitely right. After getting his perpetual calendar, his orgasm was like....

...and it is still continuing.

ML is a good watch. But if you are a WIS, enjoy exploring what different watch brands offer and like to visit the MWF and other popular watch fora, the brand does not stand a chance.

Definitely good advice to look around and check out more brands and models. You might find one that strikes you even harder. Half the fun is in the hunt.

But you might find the available range of skeleton watches much more limited and the price gaps very steep as you move up the luxury scale.

For a nice entry level, check out the Tissot T-Complications Squelette... there was a pic posted by bro hanz in a thread by bro chrisyen earlier.

Mid range would be the ML or the Opus.

Enjoy. Pls post a pic once you've caught the prey..
