apparently, there aren't any Home-Fix stores on this side of the water. any volunteers to mail me a pack of Cape Cod to try?

just saw that all home-fix stores in Malaysia are located within KL / PJ only.

sometime this week i'll go look around the couple that are near my house and see if they have any cape cod stuff.

home-fix HQ consists of a bunch of idiots.
they've never heard of cape cod, even after checking their inventory.
then tells me, there is a product called cape for metal polishing, but stocked at bangsar village.
so i go over there, check it out, and it is indeed cape cod, but the dusting cloth - not the metal polishing one.
i asked the guy over there, and he tells me the metal polishing one hasnt been stocked for a long time due to the supplier not bringing them in anymore.

in short, screw home-fix for cape cod.

oh yea, i bought some autosol instead, works just as well and cheaper too.
just apply it on some microfibre cloth and polish away those minor scratches.

only polished.
like i posted earlier, for brushed i've used 3m sandblaster with pretty good results.

Just went to homefix earlier..they've only got the dusting cloth..as earlier mentioned..
N they've only got the 100grit..

stainless steel is still steel, no?
there is a autosol specially made for gold / silver polishing, which is much milder than the regular one.
tho for deep scratches like on your bezel, better bring it to a pro that has proper equipment etc.
the rest that you showed can be easily removed if you feel like DIY.

guys,

i tried autosol but realized that it will have 'swirlies' on polished surface afterwards under bright light...how to get rid of it ar? is there a particular technique to do it?

and for brushed surface, it's very difficult to get the 'grain' right especially on rounded edges like bezels...

and acurusaragon, r u afraid the autosol might rub off the AR coating or do u want to remove it?

you can remove the "swirlies" using Cape Cod polishing cloth. a friend of mine got me a few packs from SG. there's a watch shop selling it and i think you can order online. Google will lead you to it.

it does the job very well for very light swirls. for deeper scratches, it might take a lot of rubbing to remove. i got tired of rubbing after a while and gave up. the polished surfaces after rubbing with Cape Cod is definitely more shiny to the naked eye.

I wonder if anyone has tried the Cape Cod Polishing Cloth on Rolex's ceramic bezel insert to remove hairline scratches.

to answer your questions..

cape cod is only to be used on polished surfaces. you can use it on brushed surface as well but then it will lose the brushed grain.

cape cod can polish gold. it is made for silverware and precious metals. it works on steel as well but you got to rub a lot more.

my watches have a tough life. i've quite given up on polishing them now because they get scratched up again the next time i wear it.

Cape Cod can remove scratches on polished surfaces but at the same time, it does leave some very light scratches as well because of the fabric material.

not quite true. i found it gives a mirror finish when properly used and buffed off with the right cloth. i could not see any swirls or scratches under a magnifying glass. that or my eyesight is worse than i thought it was...
