Watch for below RM1k
« on: September 09, 2011, 02:28:35 PM »
Itchy, thinking of getting something below 1k for a beater.
Something out of the norm and not conventional ;D
After you see some of my shortlisted ones below you might be able to get my preferred style :P

-Anything 36mm and above.
-Quartz/Ecodrive/auto/manual is ok, prefer manual.
-Display back if possible.
-Strap or bracelet does not matter.
-Dress or sports ok.
-Any material is fine also.

-NO square or rectangular case.
-NO homage pieces for now unless it is unique.
-NO Russian.
-NO black or red dials.

Watches i have shortlisted as of now is as below, open to suggestions and discussion. Maybe is good for future when someone is looking for similar budget watches.
All pics below taken from google.

1- Seiko Alba Riki Watanabe at 36mm i believe.
Pic from "Hugo14 of Chronomag forum"

2- Classic G-shock, the one on the right.

Thats all i can think of right now.
Hmmmm any skeleton watches to recommend?
The Swatch is nice but unless it comes with a strap, the bracelet is just ugly IMO.

The Seiko is hot, but the Classic G gets my vote.

Before landyshah gets all excited, I only have love for the classic G  ;D
So, in the nutshell, the finer things in life does not have to be the most expensive or exotic item or place one could have.

I'm also feeling (very) itchy!  ;D
What about Seiko 5 models - there are many, I know - with display back?  :-\
Take care, Ciao!

wow, riki looks good.

for me a daily watch got to be with steel bracelet, as my skin gets itchy and rashes quickly when i wear rubber or leather strap.

is there any swiss army under 1k?

If the Ecozilla, pre-owned also the price is above RM1k. What about Citizen Nighthawk or Orca?

Any particular model or the Orca you would like to share?

The Nighthawk is too busy for me.
I prefer 3 hands max and maybe a power reserve hand at most.

1. How about a Kemner? He lists on xbay once in a while.

2. This one is new. Have not seen it locally yet. Comes in a few colours.

3. Victorinox Night Vision. The LED flashlight intrigues me.

takashi78,

the model is new, released in Basel 2011. Body is 40 mm and is made of nylon fibre. The bezel is aluminium and it is 40 mm. Movement is quartz. It is expected to cost about USD 320. And yes, it only comes with the NATO. Colours are navy gray, commando black, desert beige or khaki green. Model number for the green one is 241514. Also eying it.

I believed most of the watch sifu  over here all started their watch collection with "Quartz" watch before moving toward "Automatic" watch and this scenario apply to "me" too  ;D
Nothing wrong to collect "Quartz" watch as long as you like it and feel the "battery" movement!   :Laughing_on_floor:

I do have one or two quartz watch in my collection. Frankly speaking I wore them when my auto/manual run out of juice and I wear it when I was not outside. They had their pros and cons frankly speaking

Seiko had a quartz diver before but too bad it was discontinued  :HammerHead: :HammerHead: :HammerHead: It is below Rm1k eh. lol
