One evening at the Pavilion
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:51:16 AM »
On Wednesday evening, my wife was invited to accompany her close friend to a watch outlet on UOB theme’s opening at the Pavilion.

Knowing me as watch nuts, she asked to drop her at the venue and of course accompanied her as well since we car pooled these days. I, of course jumped at the chance….

As usual, the atmosphere was jovial and before we know it, we were enjoying ourselves at the cocktail…

And then…(we) its time to check out some models…..

As we know, the scenario is usually packed and to our dismay, two glass counters were already occupied by (each) two separate potential customers and with the displaying watches and wooden tray laid which covered almost all on the glass counter shelves.

These two potential clients were haggling the night away (a full ½ hour and my time spent there) with the un-thoughtfulness of the SA’s who attended to them.

This scenario deprived of other would be clients a chance to get close-up for their viewing pleasure…with view to purchase, if any…

My 2 cts tells me…that the SA should invite or directed the haggling customer (with the short-listed watches) to the sofas nearby for a kill…leaving the counter free to other invited guests.

Too bad, they really lost some potential clients that evening…

Cool story, bro.

Personally, I would have punched the hagglers in the ears.
So, in the nutshell, the finer things in life does not have to be the most expensive or exotic item or place one could have.

Yesterday events was a quiet affair. I believe the UOB members are invited and they can purchase via installments through their cards.

While I was there, I took the opportunity to check out the Tudor Heritage chrono...takes list rm13k plus a pop. Saw some freshly mint tudor sub? (150m) 42mm..interesting...quite attractive price structure, if you ask me...hmm.

Most of the sports model are not displayed.........

SA probably thought that since such watches are so niche market, it's good to hold on to one firmly nibbling the bait now rather than casting more lines which may or may not have any nibbling at all..

But then for the buyer and seller, there must have been an intense Q&A about the watches to have last more than 1/2 hour talking about it.

Hey DC looks like you like to attend cocktail parties. Do you still hang out regularly at Summit? Thinking of going for another visit after Raya, have something in mind.
