Un-fathom-able!!
« on: August 24, 2011, 08:15:58 AM »
After seeing one of my boss' friend wearing the real deal...

And also finding out that is costs 40k+ in retail... I know this is one of those that I "might" not afford in my lifetime.
So I got my itchy fingers to work and came up with something that I can afford... for a measly 2.25% of the original's retail, I got this....

Does it look 2.25% the quality of the original?  :Laughing_on_floor:

Is it by SEIKO? I know the box and the caseback stated that but the dial doesn't :D

Looking at the caseback it seems to have a Seiko movt inside.

Can Hanz give us the model number?
Or maybe more info on the watch.

Seems like a fun watch to have.

Hanz079,

Is this one of the watches that has been modified by Harold? Looks interesting. Congrats.

Lume is shining brightly...

Got this over at WUS from "Harold"... Mr.Hobbit is spot on.
This is just one of the variations of the Fifty Fathoms Dial.
There are a few more out there and from what I read, they are doing these dials in a limited run.
Maybe 100 or maybe less of each variation.... not really sure on that.
The dial alone costs 50-60usd...
They are now doing a run for casebacks...

The base watch is essentially a Seiko SNZH55...
It's an budget Seiko5 watch fitted with a 23 jewel 7S36 movement that is non hacking.
The crystal is hardlex with no AR coating whatsoever.

And yes you are right ck77... this just adds the itch even more... too bad they aren't any pre-owned Fifty Fathoms with a good price out there... and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is available in 20+ variations... just makes searching for the right one that much more difficult.

I know... that's what I was looking to get too but long gone liao...
Those left are the ones with the Radiation Sign on the dial... which I'm not feeling...  ;D

Ah!! so it is a mod. I was looking high and low online for a seiko fifty-five fathoms.. :Laughing_on_floor: Looks really cool. Is the mod mainly cosmetic? I hope they can use the 6r15 movement so it can hack and handwind.

The one that I have, only the dial is changed...
Some have the hour, minute and seconds hands changed as well... mine is still on the standard seiko hands...
Movement, I am not too sure...
Give this one to Hobbit, I am sure he can find a way to fit in a Rolex movement!!

Mine is considered an older dial mod...
The newer ones are paying homage to this model...

But without the Radiation

bro hanz079, the cure is to sell out all your current watch collection (no matter is cheap or expensive), upgraded yourself with new watch collection (price is not an issue) to replace the old stocks.

And that is the CURE!  :Laughing_on_floor:

If you guys remember, it was only like 2 months ago that I started selling most of my watches and got myself and my dad a Rolex ExpII, then I dive into the Zenith Chronomaster XXT, then now this Fifty Five Fathoms... and one more incoming maybe early next month... all this while my Sinn is still waiting to be passed on to the new owner, the zenith ep hw and damasko still longing for a new home... damn...
